No $$$$ due to the University’s very tight budget. Plus, the University was built in Uptown NOLA and there’s no more space to expand facilities

I don't think JAPS play sports, not the ones I dated.

Who would draw a bigger crowd?

The 12 year old NORD team gearing up for Cooperstown or Tulane v. Tulsa in softball?

A Tulane softball stadium doesn’t have to be Tiger Park

I've said it many times... but I wish LSU and other SEC schools would bring back their wrestling programs....

There seems to be a recent resurgence of wrestling in the South, so maybe one day soon.

No but it still has to be somewhere. It's not the late 90s so you can't get away with throwing up a temp fence in a city park.

It was a really good program when I was going to school. Title XI ended it and the LSU Men's Gymnastics program.

I have heard this from Tulane folks. Why is that the case?

It's not as if there is a huge group of top private schools in the South. Who are their main competitors for students, financial resources and research funding? Rice? Duke? It's not like Tulane is battling it out with 83 other regional schools doing their same programs.

They could play at a high school softball diamond off campus and they would still get the same amount of fan support which would be between 0-350 fans.

John Tenta was on the team but not an AA, apparently.

He was also on the football team before taking up sumo then pro wrestling as Earthquake.

The other top private schools in the South have 5x the endowment. Plus you have zero corporate base in Nola.

Interesting since neither Vanderbilt nor Rice have softball either, but pretty good baseball programs...

With the softball talent in the GNO area (Catholic League, River Parishes, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, JPRD, Carrollton, Travel teams (Voodoo, Fastpitch, GRITSs, Patriots, etc), it is very surprising the only school that has a softball team is Xavier. To my knowledge, they practice at Carrollton.

Tulane and/or Loyola could be successful if they put out a little effort.....but they take the easy road.

The GNO area is loaded with softball talent and good coaches (high school, pitching, hitting, etc.).....

It's a shame.
