So I put a few movies that were nominated for academy awards or had actors nominated. Ended up watching weapons yesterday. Went in totally blind, not having watched a single trailer or clips. Saw it had Josh Brolin and Amy Madigan (wife from Field of Dreams).

Movie was strange as hell, but it kept me interested, and the end was pretty graphic. Overall it was a good movie. Witchcraft movies are always a bit strange, but this one held up. IMO, it held up to it's 7.5/10 from rotten tomatoes.

Movie was definitely strange, but it was also very intriguing. The horror element, with also the comedic relief in the movie was a great balance. I also loved how they showed each person’s perspective in the movie in different sections. I thought that was unique and well done. I think I scored the movie in the low 8’s. Overall one of the better “horror films” I’ve seen in quite some time.

Yeah I enjoyed the pov from each character. The cop and the crackhead were my favorites.

I liked it, but the absolute absurdity of the ending scene with her doing her best Ferris Bueller impression took it down a few pegs for me. It was just laughably stupid.

Agreed. I enjoyed like 90% of the movie but the 10% I didn't enjoy really, really took me out of the movie. Once the whole chase scene started, it lost me. I understood what they were trying to do, the execution was just bad.

It is still a really solid movie though.

I'm at the point where if a movie can hold my interest for the entire run time, I call that a win.

i loved it, but i just dont see how its Oscar worthy. Then again, horror movies rarely get the nod.

Spoiler.

The only part I still think about and can't understand is Josh Brolin was outside looking at a house or something and there was a massive AR15 floating in the clouds.

Yeah that was weird as hell and had no meaning for the plot.

Supposedly that was a real dream the director (or maybe writer?) had, so he included it in the movie. I don't think it really has any meaning whatsoever outside of him wanting to include it because of a dream.
