Why not play Harden.

He was impressive in training camp and he would not have missed the ball in the second inning.

Maybe Jay will it's early. Reeves has earned his playing time, don't shite on him for one miscue, he's a good player.

Only 8 spots on the field.

Outfield spots aren’t up for grabs. Jay put reaves in for the bat to help pick who will play at 2nd. Don’t read too much into it.

It's very early in the season...please don't stir the pot.

1. He has played.
2. Jay knows what he is doing with the players he is inserting into the lineup.
3. Too early to bitch about a player not playing.

It's not 1 miscue with him. He is a poor fielder, and his track record shows that.
Thus far, his bat has not made up for that hole in his game. Maybe this year it does. I think Jay is giving him a chance to earn it or get passed up.

Reaves is 4 for 10, 2 for 2 SB and .500 OBP
Yeah he missed an almost sliding grab in LF but he hasnt done anything really to warrant being replaced until Stanfield comes back
Maybe they believe Reaves hits lefties much better than Harden as well. We've seen a handful of lefties since Stanfield went out.
Harden also has seen 3 plate appearances so it isnt like they arent giving him any chances

Reaves is hitting .400. Also, he probably won't be in the lineup as soon as Stanfield returns.

Last year taught me to stop questioning Jay. It's all going to work itself out by May.

are we really questioning Jay still in yr 5? dude knows what he's doing and im sure Harden will get his playing time. Im excited to see him play but Jay knows what he's doing and where to plug/play guys.

There is people on here that would still try to tell Nick Saban how to win a national championship. So people trying to question Jay after 2 titles in 4 years is no surprise.

Wow. The back up infielder last year miss judged a line drive ball in left field!
Some of y’all are ridiculous

This is the dumbest response to when people ask questions. We all trust Jay, that doesn't mean we can't discuss who is and isn't playing. This site wouldn't exist if every post was "Jay is great, no one question or try to understand anything, just support"

Why not play everyone

Also I've said this in the past, but with the run rule, its just less opportunity for the guys down the depth chart some
We havent batted in a 9th inning in 5 games so far this season
We've lost 7+ innings of hitting in 5 games between run rule and never batting in the 9th.
We lost another 4 innings of playing the field due to run rule
I realize the good nature of putting the run rule into place, but it without a doubt takes ABs and appearances from bench guys away on teams like ours throughout the season....on top of some innings pitching for lesser guys.

I think it's a legitimate question, and it doesn't mean you're second guessing Jay. Coming out of the fall, there was a logjam in the OF with guys like Harden, Braun, Patrick, Pearson, and the incumbents. I don't really recall Reeves getting much work out there (maybe he did and I forgot).
I think it's fair to simply ask what his rationale is for Reeves instead of some of the others.

There are teams out there that don't use the run rule. I get that maybe this early in the season with so many games in such a short time that teams might feel squeezed, but I hope some of the in-state midweek teams will allow for full 9s even if we're blowing them out.
With the travel plans for yesterday, I understand why they used it yesterday.
I'm also hoping when we play whichever Ivy League team that they won't use it because it will be one of their first weekends on the field and will want as many innings as possible.

I know Jay is very appreciative of the assistance he gets when completing his lineup card. He is just learning on the job as a head coach, but still a work in progress.
