Alito has truly been a great Justice. Solid, reliable, common sense. Everything we could have ever asked for.

Alito and Thomas absolutely must retire during Trump's second term.

The future of the nation may ride on it. Their seats can be protected for decades.

Democrats have never recovered from Ginsberg's failure to retire on time.

Speculation that seems entirely based on the release of his upcoming book. Not saying that it doesn’t happen - but reasoning is kinda thin at this point. 75 yo - on the early edge of retirement age for a Justice.

If I was Trump, I would go with Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk. He’s a district court judge but Biden set the precedent with KJB that appellate experience wasn’t required. Kacsmaryk would send the left into a fit of rage.

Can we count on Thune to get the new guy confirmed before 1/1/27?

Yea, hate to see him go, but Trump needs these two appointments. ...Alito and Thomas.

I think Rubio and Vance have great shots at taking us through the next 8 + years. It’s always a crap shoot when choosing a justice. I wouldn’t advocate for either to retire before they are ready. And certainly don’t want them hanging on beyond their ready.

They need to retire before the midterms. If the Dems take the Senate there's no way Trump could get a decent candidate confirmed.

We'd probably end up with sfp or boosie.

Damn shame we can't keep him around for another couple decades.

Alito and Thomas need to retire so Trump can appoint two more before the Democrats take the White House.

I see your point, but it’s risky since they would likely retire in a dem admin if Vance loses 2028.

Too risky. Trump is President now.

Democrats thought Trump had no chance in 2016 and they lost the Ginsberg seat to Gorsuch. A pretty big swing.

We cannot afford to take the risk. Before midterms would be preferable. One must go,.then pray Republicans hold Senate to get another through.

This is about risk management.

If he doesn't before the mid-terms, forget about it. No way the dems allow Trump to confirm a judge. And yeah, this will be another example of the GOP screwing Trump if it happens soon.
