Why is ESPN / SECN such crap?

Whomever designed these apps/websites, needs to be drug out into public and shot.
It takes 3 business days and an act of congress to login, the interface is terrible, and the way they bundle everything, you are redirected 19 times before you finally get to a place that might have what you're looking for.

Used to have the same problem when I had dish. Since I got starlink, haven't had any problems at all.

Interesting, I have ATT Fiber and have zero issues with anything other than ESPN/Disney.

They’re a DEI shop - they don’t engineer intelligently

ESPN lets you identify your favorite teams, yet that selection does nothing to help make finding your favorite team’s games easier.

ESPN does not make it easy to locate SEC Network + either.
Easiest sure thing for me ...Go to LSUSports.net
Scroll down the Schedule ....in the Box click SEC Network +

ESPN's app has been dogshit since it came out. I used it back in the Xbox 360 days, and even with the fastest possible internet at the time, it was rare that it worked properly. Constantly crashing, buffering and just genuinely being a shite product.
It's truly amazing that in the era of streaming apps just working, ESPN's is still average to bad. I use YoutubeTV and I've never had an issue with it not working. I was even able to watch an NBA playoff game in Big Sur with minimal service.
frick ESPN. I hate that the SEC is tied to them for the foreseeable future.

For those of you with issues, curious what type of device/interface you use to access the app
I had a "dumb" tv that's roughly 15 years old hooked up to an Apple TV for a few seasons now. I can probably count on one hand the number of issues I've had over the years, and every time a simple reboot cleared it up
About a month ago I decided to upgrade and get a new OLED smart TV. The picture is fantastic, and it has all the apps built in using Google Home. So i figured why not consolidate and use the TV apps over the Apple box
These built in things are dog shite. Slow, laggy, buffering issues and youtube tv crashed twice in the first week. I can see now why so many people get frustrated and fed up watching games over the apps, since I'm guessing these days most people have smart TV's with the awful built in apps
Switched back to my Apple TV, haven't had a hiccup since

I’ve found the easiest way to get where I want now is to do it through the Disney+ app.

I had viasat before starlink. Not very many options here. And trying to stream anything would make you want to pull your hair out. It's not perfect. After posting on this topic yesterday, I tried to go back a couple of minutes, and it froze on me. So the op is diffently right about ESPN app not worth a shite. But as long as I didn't try to go back, no problems

I thought it was only a problem on my end. I’m glad I’m not alone. It’s horrible

If you’re watching a 30 for 30 or any other documentary it does not have a continue watching option. You have to start it over if you haven’t finished it and try to fast forward. That is almost impossible to do without it freezing up and lagging. It makes me madder than hell??

Not sure if there is a search function, but in the fall when I am looking for a game. I have to scroll up and down for the hundreds of ESPN+ available games. Some times it takes me a few minutes to find Nicholls or LSU because there are so many streams from football, basketball, and some other intercollegiate sport I didn't think was a team sport.

Watching on ROKU is a much better experience. As someone said above, the Apps built into the Smart TVs are crap. Use an external streaming device.

I don’t understand that all of a sudden 3 or so months ago I have to login with my TV provider every time now. Previously it at least kept me logged in for 2+ weeks.
Becomes a PITA when your wife is trying to get logged in to watch something but the email is tied to your account and we’re having to text each other the Gmail login codes for YouTubeTV verification in the ESPN app.

I almost never have issues.
go to the app on Roku, never have to login again after the first login.
college baseball is usually in the first handful of rows and just scroll to side until you see the LSU game.
