Surprised Publix would be willing to be tied to a neighborhood full of cheap houses like that

Congrats on the high prices.

Dont sleep on them key lime pies baw

No way. Publix cannot find the types of employees they want in Louisiana which is why they've never opened a store here.

So it would skip Mississippi to come to BR?

Harveston is more than just a single neighborhood

Place is gonna turn into a shite hole within 10 years with apartments in it. Fact.

That’s what the majority of Florida neighborhoods are now.

We recently got a couple of Publix here in Lexington.
Holy crap are they way overpriced. Absurdly so. They also seem to have a little less selection. I also thought their Publix brand sandwich bread was terrible.
I was a little surprised about all of this TBH considering how much hype we've heard about Publix. I know everyone says their deli subs are awesome, and I'm game to go back and pick one up some time. But it looked to me like they just use Boars Head products and that's why everyone raves about them? We've had that stuff here for a long time, so if that's what makes them so special then to me it's just going to be whatever. If there is something I'm missing there as to why the deli subs are so lauded, I'd certainly like y'all to tell me so I know what to go after.
I'm sure this post reads as "dickish" to people who love shopping there, but I'm just being honest about my first impressions. I did not come away from my experience seeing any reason why I would choose to switch to shopping with them.

Publix deli subs are for people on vacation or too lazy to go to a deli and get meat sliced for sandwiches to make their own. They're nothing special. I've had several and concluded I could make way better subs with a little effort.

Yeah I agree but apparently going by the downvotes I got, a lot of people here love it which is a mystery to me. Very high prices and an average selection doesn't make the store special. I would rather go to Krogers and even Food lion. Wegmans is the best grocery store I've ever been too though.

Publix is 100x better than Rouses

What the hell is Rouses? Must be a Louisiana thing.

I’d be shocked unless they are planning on opening multiple stores in LA, MS, AL.

This confirms what I have suspected. Still, Im gonna run in one day and grab one, just because. At least I'll be able to say I tried it. Kroger is all over here, and their deli offerings are fine. They're good, in a pinch. They also have Boars Head deli subs prepped and honestly I think they're kinda meh...whatever. I guess what I'm saying is you hear people go on and on about this stuff and then it isn't really anything special. I imagine this is what In N Out Burger and Whataburger will be like whenever they expand into Kentucky.
The bottom line is Publix prices, here at least, are absolutely laughable when compared to the other regular grocery chains in Lexington. I could just go to Fresh Market or Whole Foods for higher end products for what Publix wants to charge for products that Kroger et al stock already. It makes no sense.
