He made a massive mistake by agreeing to resign.

Make them fire you and sue their balls off.

Easy lawsuit win, they'll settle out of court to prevent discovery

Fired for supporting the agency responsible for removing foreign nationals that we never wanted here in the first place.

This is somehow a controversial opinion to hold.

This seems to be a good summary of the events.

The facts (since the X post and gofundme were light on them):

The teacher's name is James Heidorn and was a teacher at Gary Elementary school (and a soccer coach at a nearby private school) in a heavily Hispanic district. He was placed on leave after local activists in the community began sharing his Facebook post that said "GO ICE" in response to a news story about a local police department saying they would cooperate with ICE.

On Thursday, Jan. 22, Heidorn was first notified by school officials that they had seen the growing social media chatter about his post. He briefly quit after meeting with HR staff before rescinding his resignation the same day. Heidorn was set to return to school to teach on Monday while the school investigated (meaning the school allowed him to withdraw his resignation).

Around the same time, Illinois Democratic state Senator Karina Villa (who was captured on video back in September chasing down ICE agents in the street) publicly expressed outrage over the post and said she stands in "unwavering solidarity" with families upset about the "disturbing comments reportedly made by an educator."

On that Saturday, before an investigation had been concluded, West Chicago Mayor Daniel Bovey took to Facebook and posted a video explaining why Heidorn's comments were "hurtful" and "offensive" to many in the community.

Over the weekend, parents online were encouraging each other to keep their students home from school as a form of protest, and many in the community began criticizing Heidorn.

The city of West Chicago held a "listening session" on Jan. 26 at the request of Bovey, that included a Spanish translator, where a variety of parents and locals expressed concerns about the post, including a woman who said "kids do not feel safe" as a result of the post and another woman who said the post was "cruel."

Ultimately, Heidorn resigned a second time rather than be terminated after a hearing with school officials.

To summarize: he wasn't fired, he resigned. Had he toughed it out and been fired due to his post, he would likely have a very strong First Amendment case against the school district.

***EDIT**** Forgot to add that last sentence before my summary and it's very core to the story.

Teachers and people that deal face to face with the public need to stay away from making opinionated political posts unless they're a politician. Remember when Charlie Kirk died a lot of them took to social media all over the country to gloat.

Look up the case of Chance Duncan Russellville AR. He was terminated as a high school biology teacher after 17 years for Charlie Kirk rhetoric and he wasn't going down the road to get another high school biology job like he had. That case was well publicized in AR

I love how Go Fund Me has become the fallback for all liberals who have Found Out their virtue signaling didn't work -- FAFO-SGFM

PS - I'm surprised they don't put a small DNC tax on contributions to go back to the original victimhood class.

He should move to an area that appreciates honesty and sober mindedness instead of opening our Border and promising total subsidization to the Third World populations that will “fundamentally change “ the Constitutional Republic and America.

The US beat back German Socialist Fascism, Japanese Imperialism, Russian Communism expansion and Islamist World domination, all of the which the Dem Party and Chicago Teachers Union now support. Another dog fight coming within our own borders this time.

Solid chance

Conservatives, especially if they know they’re retarded and susceptible to Internet folly, need to completely unplug from any form of Twitter type news.

Just fricking stop. If you don’t have the time, patience, or will to vet every little blurb that bombards your scrolling, then just get rid of it all.

Yep, or maybe he was referencing Vanilla Ice, Ice T or Ice Cube. Two are black and one is a white rapper. I guess the left are racists.

That's my fault for forgetting to add that he later resigned a second time.
