NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A convicted felon was arrested early Saturday (Feb. 14) for allegedly carrying a gun and a live alligator through Carnival crowds on Bourbon Street, state wildlife officials said.

The suspect -- identified as 25-year-old Eurell D. Johnson of New Roads, La. -- was arrested by agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ enforcement division, the agency said.

According to the agency, agents saw Johnson carrying a 3- to 4-foot live alligator through Carnival crowds in the 400 block of Bourbon Street around 1:30 a.m.

Agents seized the gator, a pistol and the marijuana, and booked Johnson with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a live alligator and possession of marijuana, the agency said.

Facebook says he worked at Exxon.. why bring a gun to bourbon street? And why the hell bring an alligator which will bring heat on you at the same time if you know you’re a convicted felon

Because women will screw a guy for having alligator boots. What do you think boozed up women at mardi gras will do when a brother is wearing an alligator scarf?

If I’m a felon and carrying my gun and weed, I’m definitely going to try to blend in and draw no attention. Carrying a damned alligator is not consistent with that plan.

He'll get some time. It starts at 10 years and his lawyer will try to get it reduced from there. What a dumbass.

Wasn’t there somebody on here who started a thread about how strange it is that it’s illegal to tie your Gator to a light pole or something in LA?

We were so close to that actually getting use

I know, that should be automatic life in prison without parole though.

Supposing that Eurell does not floss regularly, invest in a 401k or have a library card.

In New Orleans, it is illegal to bring any reptile within 200 yards of a Mardi Gras parade route during a carnival parade or when a parade is pending. This city ordinance, often described as a ban on bringing snakes to parades, aims to ensure public safety and prevent accidents in crowded, noisy conditions.

If I see a guy walking around with a live alligator on Bourbon St, I am very unlikely to eff with him.

I doubt he needed any other weapon.

Lock him up for 10 more years.
