La Higher Ed investigated by Feds for racial discrimination

"Today, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) initiated a directed investigation into the Louisiana Board of Regents (the Board) to determine whether its Master Plan for Higher Education violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) by authorizing racially-exclusionary practices and initiatives.
According to public records, since Fiscal Year (FY) 2021–2022 and again in FY 2025–2026, the Board’s executive budgets have included performance objectives requiring schools to prioritize students of “all races other than white [and] Asian.” Specifically, the Board’s stated goal is to “increase the unduplicated number of underrepresented minorities (all races other than white, Asian)” earning a degree or credential “in a given academic year.” The current objective sets a target to raise matriculation and graduation of “all races other than white, Asian” from a baseline of 14,579 in 2020–21 to 16,000 in Academic Year 2025–26.
“The Louisiana Board of Regents’ objective to prioritize recruitment and graduation efforts for ‘all races other than white [and] Asian’ appears to blatantly violate not only America’s antidiscrimination laws, but our nation’s core principles. Title VI guarantees all students equal access to educational programs and opportunities regardless of race and OCR is committed to preserving these rights."

Donald Trump and his people need to step in and put a stop to this BS investigation before it wastes millions of taxpayer dollars with no return on investment to show for it.
The only thing it can produce is some BS virtue signaling reports that liberals can use to clutch their pearls.

Need to go after these people with civil and criminal penalties, the only way this truly stops is when there is a real possibility that they lose everything.

Facts hurting feelings again.

Let them keep that rule if they agree to use the same method on LSU's football team.
I just said that to point out how stupid race-based policies are because it is the same stupid idea.

High school diplomas are already an attendance award, why not make college degrees the same thing?
Heck, can’t I just write a check? That’s all they really want anyway.

Why does this organization even exist in 2026?

Why do you think Jackson State is known as “Just Show Up”?

"The commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion should not be limited to hiring practices for athletic directors and head coaches but should apply to aspects of hiring processes across higher education institutions."
"Internships and statewide incentives should be considered to diversify the talent pool and encourage adherence to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Pledge and related recommendations."

Did you even read the post? This is Trump’s anti DEI push. They’re saying Louisiana is pushing DEI on its universities, which is racist policy against whites and Asians

There should be zero mention of any race in any governmental policy.

Looks like this is the discriminatory objective in question, put in place soon after KHR became Commissioner of Higher Ed.

Why is meritocracy so hard?
I get that we all start at different lots in life. I grew up dirt poor and there were tons of folks that had it way better than me. Was it fair? Nope. It is what it is. You do what you need to do in order to get where you need to be so your kids won’t face the same obstacles.
This is dumb. Everyone has a shot at getting a decent education, even if that means a public school that underperforms. It can be overcome and I’m living proof.

So you want people being excluded because of race?

This all depends on whether the goal is to increase the percentage of minorities who are successful in school and graduate rather than drop out. This is a laudable goal assuming all students are graded by the same criteria regardless of race.

LSU instituted an attendence grade almost 20 years ago. Any where from 15-30% of your final grade consists of you attendence.
Student Government pushed this through because they felt that having your grade be based on only exams was too stressful for students and that your final grade for a course shouldn't rely so heavily on exam scores.
American Education is a joke in all aspects. From public schools, private schools, and higher education of every kind (University, Trade school, culinary, etc.), the goal isn't to educate the students, but collect money and keep the assembly line going.
