I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last May. It was found early and I have a great prognosis after chemo and Whipple surgery, believe it or not. Some of you may remember my daughter was also diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer within days of my diagnosis. She and I are both doing well. Anyway, I’ve been updating my bucket list and this is on it. I’m single/divorced so I can do whatever I want within reason and budget.

No insight on the Camino de Santiago, but very glad to hear you and the daughter are doing great.

I haven’t done it but know folks that have. They say their faith deepened and their encounter with Christ was life changing.

Pretty avid hiker here and I put the Camino de Santiago on my bucket list after watching "The Way" (2010) with Martin Sheen and his son Emilio Estevez

I've done the Portuguese Camino from Porto to Santiago. About 170 miles. It was a very fun walk.

Most peoplewalk and the Camino depicted in The Away the Camino Frances. But there are a dozen or more.

BTW her hiking shoes are Ultra Lone Peak, I used them on the AT, great hiking shoes.

Get Dr Scholles or the like inserts no matter what you wear.

A full 30-day trek usually costs €1,000–€1,500 ($1,100–$1,600 USD), excluding flights and gear. Costs vary based on accommodation (albergues vs. hotels) and dining choices.

Congrats on the positive outcome that's headed your way.

Start building your Baja buggy now. Go run it, even if it is not race time. Take your time going through and enjoy the sights.

We’ve hiked the Grand Canyon the past 5 or 6 years and a few of the guys have mentioned this. I think there’s multiple options or hikes you can attempt or complete

The Rick Steves episode of the hike from St. Jean Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela has made me want to do this.
