Helping the environment: 2000 acres near Mobile to be clear cut for a solar farm

The best way to (make money) help the environment is to repurpose (wipe all the trees and habitat) a piece of land into a clean (just as dirty as other choices) solar farm.
I was told once this wasn’t happening though.

There are plans to build a massive solar farm on thousands of acres in rural Baldwin County. The power generated will be used to meet the needs of a data center Meta is building south of Montgomery. Meta is the parent company of Facebook and Instagram.

Silicon Ranch says it is purchasing 4,500 acres of land from Stockton 1-65 LLC, which records show is registered to Roberts Brothers in Mobile. Silicon Ranch plans to build the solar farms in two phases. A company spokesperson says less than 2,000 acres will actually be developed.

The place for solar is the frickin desert. Not in the south where trees actually grow.

People think companies like blackrock are taking up the land and driving up prices.
THIS is what is really happening.
I am all for capitalism but we are dealing with a scarce resource and you just can't let the most money win forever.

I imagine blowing sand would significantly reduce the output of solar farms in a desert. But I agree with your premise at least a little.

AI needs that power asap to take our jobs

Getting that power from remote desert locations all the way out to a city is so costly and resource intensive that it defeats the purpose of using solar power in the first place.

Happening to my place in South Texas.
Big money guy bought up all the ranches around us and basically we would have had solar panels on 3 sides.
We jumped in the and ranch should be bulldozed in the next year or two.

First hail storm takes it out.

The only purposes I can think of are subsidy money and supporting some people’s global warming religion.

This is in the southern part of California. This is the area where Gen Patton trained troops for WWII.

The heat that would have reflected back into space by reflecting off the desert: Where does it go when there are solar panels in place?

I’m not against solar, but I am against razing a forest for solar.
Solar belongs on abandoned parking lots, old mall sites, etc. I’m actually not even against putting them on unimproved and unproductive farmland if it makes sense geographically…. But cutting down forests or dropping them on highly productive farmland is bullshite. There’s too many other places to put them to be doing this.

The correct place for solar farms are in parking lots, above the cars, collecting sun, keeping the cars shaded.

Hopefully a hailstorm will wipe it out

1 hail storm and it’s totaled.

Leftist logic:
Save the environment by using solar! Now…let’s cut down a forest!

You can build a wall around the solar panels

Just a tax credit for Alabama Power and Southern Company.

Solar should be on the roofs of large buildings, parking garages or large parking lots. Not on land.

It's going to get rained on every day.
