Solar should be on the roofs of large buildings, parking garages or large parking lots. Not on land.
Yep. What we really need to do is embrace nuclear, as that is the real future. You'll get far more reliable power out of a nuclear plant taking up way less land.
There is already small scale nuclear technologies out there that allow portable power plants to be used to power infrastructure. The US Military recently signed contracts for this very type of power solution as it is easily scalable and portable.
Our subs and carriers are powered by nuclear, surely we can do something similar with data centers without having to carve up thousands of acres of land for expensive and inefficient solar.

And yet electricity bills still won’t ever go down
We’ve made all these advancements and shite is still sky high

They said the plan is to remove and store all the panels if a hurricane is on the way.

You should get on the horn and let the billionaire investors know about the big mistake they are about to make.

Will they let grass grow under the panels? If so, how much carbon does grass capture vs trees?
Posted on 2/13/26 at 9:27 pm to auggie
Then they will cut down any pine trees around it to prevent the theft of power caused by layers of pine pollen that stick like glue on some surfaces.

Baldwin County residents are worried about the project's proximity to the Mobile-Tensaw Delta known as "America's Amazon" and what could happen during a hurricane if solar panels are damaged. A Silicon Ranch spokesperson says the panels, made of cadmium telluride, can be stowed away during storms to reduce impact.

ETA let’s do some math.
2000 developed acres = 400MW
Assuming they use an XL module in 600W range that’s 666,667 modules? Is my math right

Probably work crews that have some percentage of illegal immigrants.

Might as well be phantom crews. They aren’t doing that. It’s not possible.
