A sport Americans invented added to the Olympics to give Americans more medals and we're barely even competitive

We legalized weed and the talent went from recreational to full on addicts.

Because the appeal to most skiers and snowboarders have moved away from huckfest/spin to win competitions to the backcountry and urban filming which has a greater focus on style and creativity

Because snowboarding isn't Rad anymore...

Its for technical geeks now.

Skiing, became cool again in the US when snowboarding went corporate.

Not to start a whole new thread about this, but why then is the Netherlands so dominant at speed skating and seemingly all US speed skaters are Asian? Also, all the 'Hungarian' speed skaters have been Asians.

For what it’s worth I think the Japanese in particular love extreme sports too. For those that don’t skateboarding the only countries that basically ever medal in any major competition are Americans, Japanese, and Brazilians.

In the winter, their canals freeze over and people use skates to commute on them and for recreation. There is a massive culture built around skating as a result. Kinda cool when you think about it.
