I have always thought the luge and the skeleton looked like such a rush. Has anyone on this board ever done either one?

No, but I am a champion water slider

No, but I always wanted to…

Is there a risk you can fall off the track and die? Seems dangerous for a beginner.

Did you say use lube on a skeleton? Sorry it’s late

Does the one in Gatlinburg count?

Women take off further down than the men where it’s less steep so they won’t go as fast and the track is also shorter. Seems odd to me. Would have thought this could be an event that they could at least in theory hang with the men.

It's like bobsledding but there's no sled, it's just Bob.

You don’t simply just luge once. It’s a lifestyle.

We went to Calgary years back and they had a bobsled on wheels at the old Olympic track. It was fun but my neck hurt for a couple days after.

I spent summers in Rangoon taking luge lessons.

Hell no. I have been on some pretty wild sommerrodelbahns in Germany where national mandated health care has eliminated the regulatory and insurance and tort nightmare that exists in the US and those things were plenty of adrenaline for me....the ones in the US are MILD compared to those in Germany. I have no need to slide down an ice covered hill any longer.

Not quite the luge you're asking about but closest I got.
When I was in high school our senior year we had to do what was called a "senior inspiration project". Learn to do a career based job. I chose to do welding and I was into skateboarding at the time but always wanted to build a street luge. So I learned to weld and welded a street luge. I spent a lot of time street luging down a few streets and a huge parking lot that was on a hill. Was a ton of fun. Think I got it up to 45mph at one point. Nowhere near what the Olympic luges are doing, but it was still super fun to be that low to the ground darting down a hill.
