I’m just wondering what the feeling in VA with the new gun law and proposed hunting bans.

I’m not sure how much I’ve read is true but I keep hearing that your new governor is pushing to ban hunting al together.

I’ve also read about Oregon trying to get a hunting ban on the ballot in November.

Adds a lot of restrictions for dog hunting and enforcement.

I don’t dog hunt anymore but it just tightens the reigns more and more.

Ok, I wasn’t sure. I’ve hear it was all hunting state wide. You know how that goes though “believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see”.

Not sure of details but seems they are coming after dog hunting very hard. This is like gun control. First they come for the deer hounds, next thing you know they come for your retrievers. We need to hold on to every inch we have.

And to think Richmond was our capital once. The winds of change are blowing too damn much.

Pretty sure this is still the case on public land in Pennsylvania

This is literally what dog runners and dog hunting orgs have beat into the minds of other hunters, in order to protect their own interests.

Come on man. Ain’t nobody coming for a retriever! Ain’t nobody coming for anyone’s hunting rights. lol

But it’s high time to get rid of deer dogging. Shut it down

They sure as hell went after using live birds in retriever games.

You give them an inch and they will take a mile

Next it’s rabbit dogs…then what?

To me, running deer is just like rabbit on a larger scale.

An aside: how do you feel about wacking mallards and shite ducks in flooded corn?

While I get your point, unless you're brand new here you probably realize that dog hunting is not a popular subject here. If I can explain this in philosophical terms....

First they came for the night hunters, and the OB said nothing because we are not night hunters.

Then they came for the dog hunters, and the OB shouted, in unison, "make sure you get all the dog hunters."

I didn’t know anything about night hunting or shooting Jake’s off the roost until I came here.

I think you are overstating this. The truth is there are a lot of people everywhere who hate dog hunters because they’d rather sit in a box stand with a heater and $1,500 in Sitka overlooking a food plot and a corn feeder posting on TD and surfing Facebook waiting on a deer they gave a name in August and only have night time pictures of. Then they shoot a “cull buck” they’ve passed on 6 times (he wasn’t a cull until January btw) and a doe later in the year and blame the fact they never saw “The Wide 10”, “Gladiator”, or “The Kicker 9” on 4 dogs that ran across “their property” (which they lease from Weyerhaeuser) for 20 minutes in December.

I wish I could take yall all hunting with me. You’d see not every dog hunter is a POS. I’m convinced most of you hate dog hunters without ever being around it. Yall don’t have a dog hunting problem. You have a POS problem and need some competent wild life enforcement. Shocker that Florida manages to do this better than most. We have laws and they are abided.

I can’t disagree with that. My experience with dog hunters was hunting with my father-in-law when I was first married. He loved to turn his dogs out on the far side of adjoining property, smugly explaining that it wasn’t his fault the dogs couldn’t read posted signs. I’m still married to his daughter so no further comment.
