Speed Queen questions

I've heard great things about them here and elsewhere. Our Maytags are starting to give us issues. About a month ago, a dryer heating element gave out. I replaced that and cleaned out all the ductwork, but it is still taking longer than usual to dry. Since I had the panel off, I also cleaned out everything inside the dryer, not just the ducts. A couple of days ago, the washer started acting up. Taking a long time to fill, and I haven't had a chance to drag it away from the wall to see about replacing the hoses or if anything is clogging up the water inlet. Hopefully it is something simple, but I'm starting to think after 8 years I've gotten enough out of them, and am willing to pay more for the Speed Queen.
All that being said, are there certain models I should be looking for or avoiding? We've got a local appliance place that carries them.

I bought the 700 series back in September and the wife loves them. She was against me spending the money but is now happy that I did. I would have went with the 500 series (same price at Nebraska Furniture Mart) to get away from the digital panel, but 700 is quieter. Our laundry room has a cased opening at the garage entrance next to the kitchen.

A dryer is just a dryer so you don't need the speed queen there unless you just want the matching set. For the washer you want a TC5.

Bought this a year ago and just now getting used to the noise level.
In retrospect, I may have gone with the less reliable/quieter one.

I'm in the same boat. Maytag Bravos XL has been acting up recently. Door latch went out and I replaced that. Now every two loads you have to unplug it and let it reset before it will start another.

I don't mind the sound of the TC5. It's really not that bad. If it bothers you, just close the laundry room door. The TC5 is an awesome washer. 30-minute cycle and you're done.

They can be a little louder than my previous whirl pool but I will close the door and enjoy cleaner clothes for that trade off

I fell the same way.

Here a short video on the major difference between the TC and TR series
FWIW, I have the TR5, it’s quiet and it cleans clothes. The control board needed to to be replaced last year, year 4, but labor & part covered under warranty.

Not from me. Ours has been an absolute lemon. Someone mentioned they had some “down years” around 2020 or so (not Covid related, I think we got around 2018-2019 or so.)
I’ll never own another one. Has been repaired and serviced multiple times. Maybe 9/10 folks on this board would strongly recommend. But I can’t. So just be advised. Speed Queen is never in my home’s future again once these go out for good.
Even something as simple as the dyer light bulb didn’t even last a month when we first bought it. They don’t need my money and don’t care about a single customer, but absolute trash experience. They sent a meth head looking guy and his girlfriend to fix it once. That’s what speed queen warranty paid for and provided us after less than a year of owning it.
What are other recommended brands out there today? It’s actually getting close to time.

Just replaced the inlet valve on my Maytag bravos last weekend … 8 years old. Thought it was time to bite the bullet for the speed queen but that $25 Amazon part may buy me another year

That is my first thought, get this set working properly again. Oldest is graduating in May and if I can keep this set working she can take them to college and we'll end up with a new set.
