What are your thoughts? How is it as an alternative to TurboTax?

I used it many years ago and had zero issues. I’m kinda dumb, and it was pretty straightforward.

Have used it the last 2 years without issue. Allows free Federal filing, but charges for state return.

Everyone should learn how to figure out and fill in their tax forms. But if you’re dumb and/or lazy, you pay.

Just used for second time. Very intuitive for being nearly free.

I switched from turbo tax to freetaxusa. I would recommend it

Taxslayer is another alternative. HR Block finally hiked their prices enough I'm done with them.

I just used it the other day to file returns for our kids. It's an intuitive system and explains everything as you go. Completely painless, but they were clearly straightforward returns. I can't speak for anything complicated.
ETA: Complicated to me is anything with more than a few W-2's ha ha. That's why God made CPA's.

Its all ive used in around 10 years. It is almost impossible to screw up. You have wide options for reporting losses, cap gains, etc. it will try to hep you maximize your returns by suggesting options if you itemize your deductions. Great product, fed is free. La costs like 5 bucks or something like that.

I used it just yesterday. It's free for federal and $15 for state.
TurboTax is only worth the price if you have numerous investment portfolios and income streams.

It definitely seemed that way. I told my husband it made me want to just do ours this year.

I used it this year for the first time after using Turbo Tax for years. I think it's much simpler and cheaper.

I used to use one called TaxAct that was the same as this but it's been a few years now so I don't know if it still exists or has changed any if so

Switched to FreeTaxUsa a couple years ago after using TurboTax for about 12 years. It's so much better and straight forward, They don't try to put a bunch of crap in your face about buying addons, etc. and that scammy, shady feeling that TurboTax has.

CPA here. Don’t use TT. (Or Intuit at all if you can avoid it)
FTUSA is what I recommend to friends and family. It does what TT does without the baiting and switching, false advertising, and fees. Only thing you pay is for state filings if you live in a state that has income tax.
