I hope so. But let’s be honest, we aren’t very good. Our OL & DL are not very good and without that we aren’t going anywhere. Not to mention we only have one decent WR and average at best RBs.

We’re closer to 2 or 3 years away at best. But there’s still reason to be excited.

Blah blah blah

The Patriots won 4 fricking games last year..

The NFL is QB + Coach. Thats how its always been, thats how it will always be.

Good coaches and good QBs can hide subpar receivers and can survive lesser o-line quality. The Bengals got there with Burrow running for his life.

The 2009 Saints defense was not some dominant force in the trenches, but they generated a ton of turnovers.

Its 50% luck, 25% QB play, and 25% coaching

Was anyone saying the Patriots had a good roster going into this season? No. Did anyone think the Seahawks would be a contender? No.

Maye took a big step and they have Vrabel. Not saying we will contend next year but I don’t think we are three or four years away if we hit on our picks this draft and next.

We need to run better.

Pass protection was atrocious for new England yet their run game provided a lot of support.

They also have a huge horshoe up their arse.

So you want to do a ban bet on the Saints making the Super Bowl next year?

They went 8-9, 4-13 & 4-13 before this year. This is Maye’s 2nd year, but he also has Stevenson and Henderson rushing the ball with a talented OL (Will Campbell is their weak link). They also have Diggs and Henry who are better than anyone we have.

I think we can be in the hunt for a playoff spot. But we aren’t making a run for the Super Bowl with Esteme or Neal running behind Ruiz and Fortner and having only one legit NFL WR.

You’re benefiting from hindsight. No one expected the Pats to be 14-3 this season. I’m not saying we are contenders next year but you’re kind of making a point for the opposition here.

They knew their coach was holding them back. That’s why they fired him and brought in a great coach. We already got rid of Dennis Allen. Also, we aren’t in a division with the Jets and Dolphins.

Look, I will be super pumped for next year and I think we have a good chance to win our division with a couple of good breaks. But we have a ways to go before we get to Super Bowl contention.

I want to believe, but in reality I know it likely won’t happen next year.

Get to the playoffs. That’s a real possibility with a weak division and we have Shough.

Every single year, there is a Patriots. No one expected the Jags to win their division. No one saw the Bears beating out the Pack and Lions to win thier division.

That's bc Burrow holds the ball too long. Line can't block forever

Imagine thinking Diggs is half the player Olave is.

No wonder everyone considers our fan base dumb as fricking rocks

Diggs had 110 yards through the entire playoffs. He’s washed.

This is the realistic take, and I agree, but to be a sunshine pumper for a minute

Love in the draft and we massively upgrade RB. It's possible Polk and Vele turn into average to slightly above average WR and we have a decent WR corp when including Olave.

This will be the thing holding us back. Doesn't seem to be many good OG's in free agency, so need to hit on one in the draft which is such a crap shoot.

Think our biggest benefit next season is playing a last place schedule.

NE played the weakest schedule in the NFL this year...by a fairly significant margin. Their opponents had a .391 winning %. The next closest team, Denver, had opponents with a .422 winning %. NE played 4 teams all season that made the playoffs: Buffalo 2x, Pittsburgh and Carolina (the two playoff teams with the worst records in their conferences).

The Saints are getting a "4th place schedule" next year. The division still doesn't look all that good (on paper). Can the Saints get into the playoffs? Maybe. They were 2 games behind the NFC South winner...who they beat 2x. The margin between the "best" team in the South and the "worst" wasn't that large.

Get in to the tournament and who knows? NE was terrible offensively. But they ran in to two teams (Houston and LA) who were struggling offensively and another team forced to start a backup for the first time all season.

Patriots also had a shite ton of salary cap space and spent over $350 million on free agents. Loomis has us in the exact opposite situation.

Jags, Bears and Patriots all had a starting QB and their Coach was fired because they underachieved. All three had new coaches this year.
