Drove to Dallas this morning and about 1.5 hours south of Dallas I spotted one of these on the roadside freely grazing about 20 feet from the shoulder. Looks like it’s an auodad sheep? Has to be high fence escapee huh? They do roam wild in some parts of the state, but not where I spotted this one.

Drop the wife on the service road and have her bang on her Stanley cup till it tries to cross. You can figure out rest from there.

Man those things have been wild in Texas for a hundred years. I hunted the Davis Mountains and they'd been there forever. Just running around all over the place. That was in the 80's.

A couple of years ago we were in Marfa for a wedding but stayed in Ft Davis for a few days before.. Went to the observatory near Ft Davis late afternoon and coming back passed a about 18-20 of them together walking down a large hill not far from the road.. Some big Rams in there.. Pretty cool. Came into Ft Davis past the park or whatever it is in town and they were all over it also. Some trophies grazing 100 yards off the road.

Don’t make it up that way often so I was surprised to see it.

Thousands of tamales in Houston made out of them and sold to unknowing white folks.

Ain’t nothing like wild sheep tamales, just use a lot of garlic when grinding the meat.

Saw one on I-45 right around the Teague exit a couple of weeks ago when I was headed back from Houston free grazing right on the side of the interstate definitely an Aoudad and a pretty big one.

I’ve got them on my lease. Takes about 10 years for them to reach maturity.

About double the time of a whitetail. I’ve had jerky made out of one and it wasn’t bad

What does a mature ram weigh in your area?

Surprised that feeder is still standing, they are some destructive mf'ers. Cousin in the hill country has beefed his feeders up to bear proof level and they are still tearing it up.

Haven’t had any issues yet. We had a really good herd but my lease mates killed close to 12 the first year so they have been thinned out pretty good.

I haven’t shot one yet because I’m waiting on a hammer that I can mount and everything they killed was between 27-30 inches with a few ewes.
