And the students assigned another two weeks of school. It’s not a fricking protest to undeveloped minds, it’s a chance to get out of class and the school is at fault.

fricking pussy society.

I think the whole point of walkouts is that they aren't allowed?

Any parent who consider themselves conservative, who have children attending protests during classroom hours, sanctioned by the school district should file a fricking lawsuit.....surely some law or policy was broken by these Cultural Marxist teachers.

Well, they cant forcefully stop a walkout

But, if there are no repercussions from the walkout for faculty, staff , and students involved, from said principal, then yes, I agree

Walkouts should be treated like field trips. No parental approval, no walkie.

Define “allow”.

If the principal is encouraging them or telling them it’s ok, then I agree.

So now we have to pay the entire school staff and bus driver for an extra 2 weeks? Fawking dumbass. The school system has to have a rule/violation for skipping class…enforce it. You don’t make a tougher punishment because they are doing it for a political reason.

If they walked out, the principal allowed it.

“Repercussions” should be an assembly meeting for those who walked out.

We've gotten warnings about consequences for walk outs since Sunday:
quote:

Campus administrators have been made aware of planned student walkout demonstrations at several Katy ISD secondary campuses. These walkouts are being shared via social media and are encouraging students participate in the walkout during the instructional day. The demonstrations are related to immigration issues currently in the national news.
Katy ISD values student voice; however, students are expected to remain in their assigned classes throughout the instructional day and follow all campus expectations. Any walkout or protest during the school day compromises student safety and supervision and may be considered truancy from class or disruption of the learning environment. Disciplinary consequences will be assigned in accordance with the Katy ISD Discipline Management Plan.
Parents/guardians of students who are truant from class and leave campus to participate in a walkout will be contacted and required to pick up their student.
Additionally, students may not post unauthorized signs, flyers, or flags, or be in possession of noise makers or other items that could further disrupt the instructional day.

Oh, I forgot the Texas Education Agency sent this out:
quote:

Consequences for students, teachers and school districts can include but are not limited to the following:
1. Students must be marked as absent and schools risk losing daily attendance funding if they allow or encourage students to walk out of class.
2. Teachers that facilitate walk outs will be subject to investigation and sanction including licensure revocation.
3. School systems that facilitate walkouts will be subject to investigation and sanction, including either the appointment of a monitor, conservator or board of managers.

By whom?

It seems like the average poster wants all students to indoctrinated to just be compliant and obedient to their overlords. Heaven forbid kids be allowed to think for themselves or organize a demonstration.

It’s like y’all were never young.

Thats how you frame enforcing school attendance?

Do you think school attendance should be mandatory or families can opt out and there is no local/state/fed recourse?
