Worst year in franchise history and the worst 10-month run for a GM in NBA history

- Gayle inexplicably hires a washed up Dumars, who hadn't won anything in 20 years.
- They retain a lame duck head coach.
- Dumars makes an inexplicable trade with Indiana before their season is over for apparently no reason other than impatience which immediately backfires.
- Dumars makes arguably the second worst trade of last 20 years by not putting protections on the Atl 1st.
- They trade one of the few professionals on the roster for a known idiot in Poole, who has an extra year of salary and is straight poison in the locker room.
- They sign a washed up big man in Looney, who it's clear to everyone is finished.
They hang on to Willie through a disastrous start untl the season is essentially over before Christmas.
- Dumars continues to alienate everyone outside his tight inner circle of Weaver, a flunky in Detroit and Washington, and his son, who has no credentials to be in exec NBA meetings.
- He doubles down on stupid and keeps roster as is except trading one of the only tough and winning players on the team for scraps.
So in less than a year, he's been completely raped by Washington, Atlanta Indiana, and thought he was smarter than Golden State.
This is not a bad year. It's not bad luck. It's unequivocably one of the top 2-3 worst years for a GM in the history of the NBA.

It almost feels intentional with just how badly things have been handled.

I'm going to make the case that Dumars is worse than Nico.
As a singular trade, nothing will top the stupidity of the Luca trade.
However, Nico did assemble a Finals team.
Dumars has taken a 21 team and made it WORSE while burning assets to do so.
It's unbelievable how bad a job he's done. Seriously, find me a worse 10-month run in sports history from a GM?
Maybe that stupid Brooklyn trade for the washed up big three that set the Nets back a long time.
This is criminal.

I still think what Nico Harrison did to Dallas was worse. Less than a year after making the NBA Finals, they trade their best player and generational talent for one first round pick and injury prone Anthony Davis. And basically another year later trade said injury prone Anthony Davis for absolutely nothing. So in less than 2 years they go from an NBA Finals team to a rebuilding team even with miraculously getting Cooper Flagg.
Besides them, then yeah I would say we're the worst.

The only thing worse is being an idiot who continues to purchase season tickets to support that disaster. Hopefully the last holdouts cancel for next year as the maximum season ticket holders should be 500 at most.

Pels will end up being a late lottery team by the end of the season.
The biggest miss was not immediately firing Green.
The Indiana trade was kind of crazy. The Pacers superstar has a devastating injury and they just decide to tank/blow it up.

Did I miss something? When did we get our lottery pick back?

For example, we went something like 20-8(lol) to finish the season, basically we'd need nearly all the average teams to go 8-20 or worse.

She is such a shite owner.
At this point she is burning all good will for running either team.

Could have had all those minus Fears and two top five picks

They didn’t. They are probably going to out perform all the teams outside the play-in currently the rest of the season. The Pels are better than their record. They are 9-6 when Herb plays since December. So the starting 5 rotation they have now has been working.

All the teams outside of the play-in just gave up at the trade deadline. They aren’t even wanting to compete.
The team should have been much better this season and it was mainly a function Willie Green being horrible.
The team has talent and some nice rookies.
The Indiana trade was unfortunate, but they basically blew up the team and had a crazy freak injury.
The Atlanta pick will be closer to 8-10 in my opinion when all is said and done. No clue how the trade discussion went, but Queen and Fears were great picks.

I agree. If the Pelicans can just be much better than they are down the stretch they can finish the year defensively bad rather than the worst.

The best worse part about Dumars taking over is that he drafted 2 potential all stars. It just sucks because I doubt Fears is going to be developed properly and Queen is a product of the worst trade in years.
It’s really not fair to the rookies.

Imo dumars was a safe hire for Gayle.
If I can see Zion, herb, trey finish the season without a sit. Then it was a good hire.
Fears, bey, missi, and queen can sit the rest of the year. Still rooting for them because they didn’t sit for 6 figures at a time. It’s sad shite.

Unfortunate? No competent gm woukd make a trade like that until right before the draft.
It was plan idiotic. They had posters still saying they were playoff team even losing Hali and the center.

It would be a minor miracle if the Pels win just half their remaining games. If that happens we'd need all the teams in front of us or go between 2-26 and 5-23 to have a chance at the play in.
