WASHINGTON (TNND) — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), best known for championing socialist ideas and railing against the excesses of billionaires, spent nearly $230,000 from his campaign fund on private jets during the second quarter of 2025. Federal Election Commission records first obtained by the Washington Free Beacon revealed that Sanders's campaign has exclusively contracted with Ventura Jets.

Back in February, Sanders launched his "Fight the Oligarchy" Tour in an effort to rally Americans to fight back against the unequal wealth distribution, having already made 24 stops.

In spite of being a millionaire himself owning three homes, Sanders has lambasted the wealthy billionaire "oligarchs", throughout his tour, comparing them to "heroine addicts" with their choice of drug being "greed."

"Well, these guys, these oligarchs, have a major, major addiction problem," Sanders said in April. "And you know what it is? It is greed,. They're like heroin addicts. They can't control themselves. They need more and more, and they do not care who they step over in order to get another billion dollars. So we are going to take care of their addiction problems."

But just a day following Sanders comments, the Federal Election Commission published records revealing that the senator's campaign spend, Friends of Bernie Sanders, spent $221,723 to charter private planes in the first quarter of 2025.

When asked about the contradiction that exists in Sanders railing against the wealthy while also chartering private jets, he doubled down, saying he would not apologize.

"You think I’m gonna be sitting on a waiting line at United while 30,000 people are waiting," Sander said during a Fox News interview in May, "You run a campaign, and you do three or four or five rallies in a week. [It is] the only way you can get around to talk to 30,000 people."

Sanders said he had "no apologies" for his private jet use.

"That’s what campaign travel is about," Sanders said. "We’ve done it in the past. We’re going to do it in the future."

Meanwhile, the Sanders also spent nearly $19,000 on United Airlines tickets during the second quarter of 2025.

Sanders has been joined by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (R-NY), a fellow Democratic socialist, on his "Fight the Oligarchy Tour." Back in April, the pair were pictured boarding a $15,000 an hour jet following an event held in Bakersfield, California.

The Fight the Oligarchy Tour has garnered crowds as large as 36,000, and comes amid Sanders concerns that the Democratic party lacks a clear vision and is being controlled by corporate interests.
