It’s got to be a top five fear of mine while camping. A cobra in Nigeria bit her while sleeping.

It's got to be extremely rare. Snakes don't typically bite humans unless startled / cornered.

Went to look for it where?

Probably thought a trouser snake was rubbing against her and grabbed it.

I don’t think the snake was named? And apparently it’s not uncommon over there as you’d think.

A snake coming out the toilet and biting my arse or dick scares me even more

That's it. I'm cancelling my trip to Nigeria now.

a related article said the snake’s name was Harold but preferred to be called Hal

You have to be careful of the BBC (big brown cobras) sneaking up on you in Nigeria

Make sure to befriend a baby mongoose and bring it with you on your next trip.

I check toilets before I’ll sit. I read some stories like this when I was young.

While speaking with the BBC, Ezugwu said he hurried to the hospital on Saturday after being informed that she had been admitted. He claimed that the facility had one of the necessary antivenoms but lacked the other.
"While they were trying to stabilize her, she could not speak but she could make hand gestures," Ezugu said. "She was struggling to breathe." Ezugwu told the outlet that all of the members of the Amemuso Choir gathered at the hospital on Saturday night, saying they were "hoping that a miracle would happen."
He told the BBC said he went out to look for the missing antivenom but returned to learn that Nwangene had passed away.
There's definitely more to this story.

Well if one gets in bed with you it will likely bite because most people aren’t perfectly still and even if they are once they feel it moving around they’re gonna move.

Especially not cobras, which are pretty intelligent as far as snakes are concerned.
They can distinguish between individual humans and can assign threat assessments (who's fricked with them in the past vs. who has generally left them alone) to each.

pretty common for mambas to get in peoples huts/homes in africa hunting rodents. roll over on one i bet it bites. i heard a story, don't know if true, that a family was sleeping in a hut and someone rolled over on a mamba and in the panic it bit everyone and the entire family died.
