I’m not denying that rehabs make bank and a majority of people end up back in rehab. But you can’t fix stupid in some cases. And drug addiction is real.
Some people are more susceptible to certain addictions.
If it is government run, slash that shite.

Not just government run. States like California and Arizona have incredibly low barriers to entry to opening these facilities. This creates a massive moral hazard where these facilities are all about making money. If someone’s insurance is willing to shell out hundreds of thousands for rehab multiple times they want that to happen. It’s shady af. It was really bad under Obamacare.

Not just rehab for addicts but for old folks to go to the hospital only to be sent to "rehab" for 21 days when insurance no longer pays for it. I've known seniors that are sent to rehab only to be drugged with psychotropics to keep them docile but also received no rehabilitation/ exercise/therapy...just lay in their beds all day and were neglected.

Is the plan to have alternative treatment or just defund rehab that become revolving doors?
what percentage of rehabs are just run as court diversion programs mills that give you 12 steps and a certificate
so you don’t get 15 years or whatever?

but it is a fact that under that under Obamacare employer sponsored healthcare, ACA plans, and Medicaid were required to include coverage for drug rehabilitation.

Audit and investigate the shite out of them. Require rehab clinics to be run by actual medical professionals not anybody with enough capital looking to make money off insurance companies. Right now insurance companies are paying out up to nearly $500k for a 6 month stay at these places. If a person gets out of rehab and fails a test within 2 weeks they can go right back with full coverage. That has to change. It's a massive moral hazard that is undoubtedly being taken advantage of. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if there are people getting paid to go to rehab so these clinics can get money out their insurance company.
