Southern states continue to dominate in domestic migration

Key 2026 Domestic Migration Trends (July 2024–July 2025 Data):
Top Gainers: North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina, and Alabama were top gainers.
Top Losers: California lost 229,077 residents and New York lost 137,586 to other states.
I contributed to the top gainers by moving from Baton Rouge to Birmingham this year. States like Alabama and South Carolina were overlooked for years and people are starting to see they are great areas to live.

It is odd to me that Georgia isn’t in the top of these lists.
A better state right now than SC in my opinion, which is noticeably poorer and not handling the growth well. (Of course, I miss the SC of my youth).
Having been to all 50 states, GA is near the top for me (along with Idaho).

I was up in middle TN a while back and it's insane how many new houses are under construction. As far as I could see, it was nothing but cleared land and construction going on.
The bad news is they are mostly blue voters from other states.

How do you know that?

Louisiana is the only red state in the bottom 10.

Yay, more white liberals fleeing what they voted for. Sucks for everyone

That’s a misconception. Sure, some may be liberals, but most are republicans who can’t take living in those blue states anymore.

It takes a really bad governor to run people out of one of the prettiest states in the country, it baffles the mind.

Yay, more Democrats coming to frick up red areas!

I'm quite comfortable here in Mogadishu, Louisiana

I am quite comfortable here in South Louisiana nestled up against the Mississippi river and quite pleased that idiots from elsewhere don’t want to move here.

The insurance crisis is a huge factor.

My sentiments exactly. The family business kept me from leaving Louisiana and it's provided me a comfortable lifestyle. It's an added bonus that we aren't being overrun by libtards seeking to escape the policies they voted for then later had buyer's remorse.

I moved away 45 years ago to Saint Paul, Minnesota of all places. Minnesota was like Disneyland back then. The people I knew were great.
I came back home because of family business and I’ve had one hell of a life. Now I’m retired and live in a sleepy little town that I feel absolutely safe living in and walking around which I do.
I can travel to all these other places and enjoy what they have to offer visitors and then go home to my comfortable little enclave.
I wouldn’t trade it for anything right now.

Well duh...the US's ever increasing population of the unintelligent prefer to be around the more like-minded nonintellictual. It makes sense for the remedial and mediocre to prefer to be around the same.

Florida lost the most behind CA which I found interesting.
But as a Florida resident I’m totally fine with it.
