A Guess as to Kiffin's Long Term Thinking

My take is that CLK sees a vacuum and he's working furiously to fill it. That vacuum was created when Saban left. What CLK is trying to do is what Saban did at the beginning at Bama, which is work furiously simultaneously on 1. Recruiting like hell and 2. Being successful on the field. Saban kept doing those two things and they built on each other. Be successful on field, attract better players. Be even more successful, attract even better players. Which ultimately led to getting guys like Bryce Young out of SoCal and Devonta Smith from Louisiana.
I think CLK sees the opportunity to do this here and has a vision that in a few years, we'll be getting not only top five stars from all over America, but also the top portal talent. Obviously, the part 2 (success on field) remains to be seen, but I think he/we have a decent chance at pulling it off.

You think he is working to get the best recruits possible and to have success on the field?

Dude. Don't let the other coaches know about this plan. Can you imagine if they also tried to get good players and win? That would be disastrous for LSU.

Devonta was because of the Bama Bagman! Otherwise I agree with the OP

Yes, of course! We’ll be unstoppable if we follow that formula. Why didn’t the other guys think of that?!
Bravo, chap!

To be fair, after the last guy it’s refreshing.

You Guess he is trying to
1. get good players,
2. win
and that winning will build a program that kids are excited to play for, and therefore will enable the program to get top players...
AND that those top players will then win more games....
well, it sounds like a pretty solid guess....

I mean who would have ever thought...recruit hard to get good players and be successful on the field and then hope that leads to more good players wanting to come play here.
Crazy complicated long term thinking and just surprised this has not been tried to be done outside of Saban.

You think he is trying to recruit talent and win? What a theory!

At this point how is anyone going to stop us? Just look what he’s already done in 2 months. This team is going 16-0 next year.

Money attracts better players.

Ummm, haven't we been doing this for basically 2 decades now?
And although the portal is newer, this is now the 2nd year we've gotten the top talent out of the portal, if we're going off rankings.
What you wrote isn't really a guess, it's just what's been happening.

Only reason he ended up at Bama. The barber wasn’t the only one that was bought paid and for in Amite.

He’s likely to lose at least one coordinator and possibly both after this year. Have to make hay while the sun shines. Things are pretty much one year at a time with the portal these days anyway.

Check the OT. A guy from Florida beat him to it.
