Cuba has SO much potential. Just a normalization of relations and opening up to tourism would raise their standard of living by 50%. Bring back the resorts and casinos of the 50's.

Actually, he knows what he is saying.
PR does not care for the US. Heck they even changed their official language to spanish. They suck billions from us, are very very liberal, and veeerrrry corrupt.
Most of the smart people moved to central Florida during the 2008 crisis. The country is full of corrupt people at the top and the ignorant crime ridden at the bottom.
Two things they dislike us for. Many years ago we set up a federal tax break for manufacturing there, most of our drugs were made there, lots of other manufacturing. It ended about twenty years ago and all of that left, and they never recovered.
Second the Jones act. In 1917 there was a fear that foreign companies would dominate shipping in the US. The Jones act allows a foreign vessel to dock in the US and unload at one point. Any shipping from one port to another must be under US flag.
If I am a container ship coming from Europe, Asia, etc, ideally I would stop in PR drop of 50 or 60 containers and then on to the east coast of the US. and deliver the other 10,000. But its not feasible under the Jones act. So I sail by PR have the containers cross docked in Miami and then shipped back to PR.
Cuba on the other hand loves America, they blame their govt for the embargo not the US.

We need to cut off PR, and let them understand what we mean to them. Tourism, protection, etc etc
