She'll eventually move out.

And hopefully start a family... and give you grandbabies.

Grandbabies are awesome.

Give it a couple of years and she might be your teenage son.

It got better for me once college came around but who knows with females.

They are all crazy IMO

ETA: grandkids are amazing!

You’ve come to the right place. No really.

A few years ago, my daughter’s fiancé called us and asked if we were okay with him asking our daughter to marry him.

After the conversation, I posted a thread on this board that was overwhelmingly positive.

My oldest is a girl. Being a dad is the best thing that you’ll ever do in your life. Your kids are like messages that you send out into the world.

Keep up the good work. The best thing that you can do for your daughter is show her what a real man looks like.

Side note: I hate the term Girl Dad. OMG, I didn’t abandon my daughter when I had to buy feminine hygiene products and get her a training bra. I’m a girl dad!

Brother, I feel you. :e-hug:
They teach us how to love with a love we never thought possible, then break our hearts.

I remember the first time I saw her, a little tiny thing. And I reached my hand down and her whole hand couldn't wrap around one finger. And then I looked down and my heart was gone.

I mean, it goes from her running up to you, jumping in your arms. "I love you daddy! Daddy you're back! Daddy get me water! Daddy sing me a lullaby! Tell me a story."

To getting any time at all being like pulling teeth. They are "too cool" for you.

But at night, you check on them and they are sleeping, with the same special pillow they've had since they were a baby, and you kiss them on the head. They are still your baby girl.

It hurts bro. I know.

I've heard they come back to you though.

If you are doing it right, this is the natural, painful progression.

I remind myself of this every day as I watch my 16yr old baby slowly leave my curated grasp and enter the real world.

You get to dance with her at her wedding. She will pick out a special song just for the two of you. Very cool. My daughter picked What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

So true… only people in this world I care that’s mad or disappointed in me for anything are my daughter, mother, and sister (Grandma too but she passed in ‘21)

It's great watching them grow up and move towards independence. I still go to concerts and such with her in her early 20s. She has never considered herself too cool for me. We are very similar.

If you really do your job well, they’ll break up with a loser, call their mom & tell them…dad set the bar too high for me to stay with a guy like that.
