I don’t know if it’s a nervous thing, a way to relieve stress, or what. And I don’t even know when I started doing it.

I “trace and count” lines on things mentally. For instance, I look at a box and I mentally trace out the sides (there are 12 lines in a cube) and count as I go. I do this with all sorts of geometric shapes that I see. Looking at a suit jacket on a guy on tv and I “trace count” the lines of the suit: starting at the lapels and collar, the seams across the shoulders, down the sleeves, etc.

Window frames, picture frames, car panels, the list is endless.

Again, no idea why I do it. Maybe it’s a restless mind trying to entertain itself? Who knows.

Does anyone else do this? Can I be the only one?

Any of you have other weird habits like that?

Does OCD or the tism run in your family?

Pertaining to language, I have a tendency to use my fingers to count syllables in a sentence or a song lyric, and I repeat the count until I get an even five or ten at the finish.

I can’t begin to explain why I do this.

Make things out of license plates... try to make it relevant to the vehicle or driver.

123ABC... A Big Car...

Make my kids do it, too.

Mild OCD probably.

Tism: I have an uncle who’s a democrat, so kinda.

I have done this for my whole life. Glad to know others suffer this ailment.

Nice,

Happy to see I’ve brought kindred weirdos together.

I count things a lot too.

I eat in order. I finish one item before I start on another.

Often times I find myself gazing upon attractive women out in a public setting, say for this latest instance it was the waitress from the Olive Garden yesterday, and I find myself wondering what color her underpants might be — her panties. Odds are they’re probably basic white cotton underpants. But, I started thinking well maybe they’re silk panties — maybe it’s a thong. Maybe it’s something really cool that I don’t even know about.

I only set the volume on my TV, and my alarms to prime numbers (the exception being 33, my lucky number)

I ate things in order as a kid. And god forbid the different foods touch each other!!

I grew out of that one. But I do manage to always time my food ratios so I finish my last bite of burger with my last two fries and things like that. Last spoon of gumbo with last bite of French bread.

I triple check to make sure I have removed the gas pump from my vehicle before driving off.

One of my biggest fears is driving off with the pump handle still in the tank.

I do this all the time when writing. Attention to meter is so important

I sort of have to step on lines with my feet evenly. If I step on a crack or something with my left foot, I then need to do it with my right foot. Right heel, then I have to do it with the left heel.

So in addition to breaking my momma's back, I have that to worry about too.

Only while wearing a skirt or dress... pants or shorts are uncomfy to go commando in.
