I lived it.
Had a Matchbox General Lee and an Armitron digital watch that’s alarm was Dixie.
Also was living in rural GA at the time.

In 1982, McDonalds had Dukes of Hazzard Happy Meal boxes shaped like cars.
My mom rarely let me have McDonalds, but I begged and begged for her to get me one.
She finally relented
Imagine my disappointment when instead of the General Lee, I got a box shaped like one of the police cars.

It’s because the country was 87% white. Now we live in a diverse utopia so we can’t have fun anymore.

Same here. I had a red, 2-seater go-kart I wrote "General Lee" in small, white letters on the sides. I used to build ramps to jump it, would do donuts, etc.

Summer after graduating high school I worked at the Schwegmann's in Hammond with a black dude who said he loved Dukes of Hazzard until he found out what "that X" meant on the top of the car.

Boss Hog was Hazzard County's county commissioner back when a lot of counties only had one county commissioner. Not the mayor. Good history lesson.
