Not sure what the exact temperature was this morning. Mid 20’s I’m pretty sure. Cold enough for the water I brought into the stand on my boots froze into little pieces. I was decently warm except my face (exposed to the wind) and my feet. I think my socks are pure wool, if not they are majority wool. Boots are Cabelas knock off Muck boots. I’m switching back to real Mucks next time. My feet got to the point where they hurt from being so cold. Been several years since I that.

I have the cold weather darn tough brand socks, and I am not very impressed with them, even with a liner sock. So I tried the Clohill alpaca socks, and they seem to be better than the Darn Tough brand. Both brand i am speaking of have a lifetime warranty.
A couple of the guys I hunt with swear by the Hollow brand alpaca wool socks.
That's all I got. Having cold feet will ruin a hunt.

Cabelas or redhead or midway brand wool. Brand doesnt matter, medium weight wool socks and maybe dress sock liners.
Cold feet = core temp and/or circulation issue. You should be ok in these temps with wool socks and un-insulated boots. My problem for a while was my rubber boots were too small for mid weight socks, and going up a half size fixed that. With lacrosse rubber boots you can get them a full size larger than nominal because the ankles are still tight. With lace ups, loosen them up before you sit down.
The chair can also be a big problem. If your feet warm up dramatically shortly after standing up, the chair / seated position is jacking you up.

I wear wolverine brand cold weather socks and a pair of Eddie Bauer boots. No issues with cold feet the last few years.

Darn tough merino and poly liner socks.
If you don’t have to wear rubber boots then don’t, they don’t let the moisture leave your foot. Even with wool socks next time you take your boots off stand on some dry wood and see the wet spot yiu leave.

I know you asked about socks, but here's my answer:
Hoffman Pac Boots
I haven't put them on a single time this year, but they're going to the camp with me this weekend! I'm an absolute sissified wuss once my feet get cold.

correct. I have found insulated boots with thin socks to be the best bet to allow circulation. Dudes that wear thick socks with their warm weather boots are usually cutting circulation. I hunted single degree temps with several guys that were running heavy socks. I had 1600g insualted boots with this cotton/polyester blend boot socks and did objectively better than the rest.

The problem is when you need legitimate 18" knee boots or hip boots, there really aren't any options for boots that function well in both warm and cold temps in knee deep or higher slop that maintain good mobility. The only option is lacross grange boots, and their quality is shite these days.
Obviously waders works, but covering any distance in waders is awful.

I recently bought the artic shield boot insulators and took them bow hunting. I wore my tennis shoes with some merino socks to the stand, when i got set up in my stand I slipped the boot covers on with a hot hand in them and I was very comfortable in 28 degree weather. I’m going to find something more rugged than tennis shoes for next year but also breathable because I realized heavy socks and boots were making my feet sweat thus making me colder.

Uninsulated hiking boots are where its at if you don't need real waterproofing, or Pac Boots if you need serious warmth and again, not serious waterproofing.
Boot blankets are great.

I'm usually wearing merino wool socks with uninsulated, waterproof Hoka hiking boots.
Or I'll wear some regular running socks with my Muck boots and then change socks right before climbing into some merino wool socks.

I have some Solomon ultra hikers they are goretex so they can handle some water, dew covered mornings are no issue. They are very comfortable and three seasons old.
