It's a great spoof of Star Trek, Star Wars and similar sci-fi space movies.
The cast is excellent and I especially liked the syntax of the alien's language as they spoke English and their herky-jerky movements in their human bodies.
Sigourney Weaver never looked better with her blonde hair and wearing a "Wonder Bra" to get those puppies looking so full.

It's one of my all time favorites - does not get enough cred IMHO.

Some consider it one of the best Star Trek movies of all time. its damn near note perfect. Tim Allen just played himself and he was perfect. Sigourney Weaver looked so hot and she was perfect. Alan Rickman...you can see the disdain in his face before saying "what a savings" and you cant tell if its because he has to do that, the grammar is so fricking terrible, or he just wants to straight up eat a bullet on the spot...and his whole role is beyond perfect. i love this movie.
PS, so many stories of Tim Allen being an absolute douche on set too., No one knew if it was method acting or him just being him or just hamming it up because thats what the role required. My favorite story? Him telling Sigourney Weaver to get out of the make up chair because, "Numero Uno" (points to himself) had just showed up.Ripley. This motherfricker told Ripley, on the set of a sci fi movie, to get up out of the chair. fricking Legend.

I'd argue this is Alan Rickman's best role.

I was staying the night at a cousin's house because of work back circa 2000, and she asked if I wanted to watch a movie, she chose it randomly, I would not have chosen it were I by myself as I was pretty lukewarm Re: Tim Allen.
But I loved it - very likely would never have watched it ever if I had not by chance been there due to work. And I would have missed out on one of my favorite all time movies.
Makes me wonder what else out there I missed that I'd love.

The interview of Johnathan Frakes calling up Patrick Steward to tell him that he HAS to watch this is great.
