You an American taxpayer? Yeah? They do this because frick you. That's why. They found another way to extract a pound of flesh from some taxpayers by making you pay for another permit.

And the Hunting with dogs part is just because they hate you.

I'm confused, isn't the depredation thing already the law? It is as far as I've ever known unless it's somehow outlawing hunting even during season

The dog thing.....well.....it's the only state in the union where dog hunting is legal.....lots of mixed opinions on dog hunting...

Not it's not. Even NY allows it.

Under Mississippi Code § 49-7-31.5, nuisance animals may be taken without a special depredation permit

Just another ridiculous money grab. I doubt any livestock owner even reaches out to the state on shooting yotes.

The way this is written it doesnt exclude any fur bearing animal from the law. Coon hunters better step up and call their representative or they can kiss their sport good bye

Some peckerwood rep, or more likely his campaign donor overlord, doesn't like a neighboring property owner running dogs. I will never understand why still hunters don't like people running dogs. It's just as much a possibility that the dog runs a deer by you, as opposed to the other direction.

Also, with the advent of tracking collars, people running dogs can stop them with collar toners and shockers if they're headed off their own property.

If it includes enclosures for coyote dogs that run during turkey season, I'm all for it. Do you know the motivation behind this? Seems they would mostly be talking coon dogs running at night. One thousand contiguous acres would take cooperation between land owners. We had a guy coming this summer that was going to run coons at night which I welcome. Racoons are one of the biggest enemies of turkey eggs and poults.

We have land in MS and my husband was telling me about this last night. Not only will it never pass, but I hope those three have enjoyed their last term...

I think there is a misconception here. Lots of states banned deer hunting with dogs. Or larger animals like bear hunting with dogs. And even in states that allow it it’s heavily regulated.

I think Georgia allows it now or allows it when the population needs to go down. But when I was a kid you had to go to Florida to hunt deer with dogs.

Birds don’t have fur. So if they just restrict it to that then it will be like other states. If they ban dog hunting for everything, this would be different than other states.
