This time it’s Francesca’s, a chain that saw its glory days during the Mall era. Women’s clothing. My wife never shopped there, so the ladies of the OT would have to inform me if this is a big deal or not.

Francesca's allegedly fires workers without warning as women's clothing retailer shuts down for good

quote:

After years of financial turmoil and a post-bankruptcy sale, the once-popular women’s specialty retailer Francesca’s is preparing to shut down its remaining stores, with reports that employees were laid off without warning and that vendors allege they are owed hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid invoices.

Good, one less place that white women can get together and think up stupid stuff.

Just need to get target to close next.

Those clothes look too modest for how whorish most women dress these days. Not surprised they went under

Seen many videos that they weren’t paying suppliers for years. This doesn’t surprise me. Wasn’t great stuff.

Me either.

No reason for me to go, but you'd think I would have at least seen one at a mall.

Francesca's is a bit of a weird store (or was - I haven't been in years) because it wasn't 100% apparel. They had a bunch of like.. random knick knacks out on tables, and then they also had a few racks of clothing.

If you wanted to try something on, there was like 1 little closet in the back with a curtain, so it's like they weren't trying to be a clothing store but still also were?

I wonder if they were trying to be a smaller and less pricey version of Anthropologie. Kinda hard to complete with Anthro, though.

EDIT: I just realized I bought a gameday dress from them online this past year. I think it was a targeted ad on Instagram and I was needing a purple gameday dress anyway.

Where were you with this tagline when the company was looking for a marketing miracle?

Time to lock your credit cards, the wife will just order from Amazon if she hasn’t done so already.

Adult Women wanting to buy and try on clothing in person is one of the last stands of brick and mortar retail.

SHEIN has made a huge dent in that. Websites like SHEIN are destroying the “cheap boutique” concept
