The study found that only about 4% of the tariff burden is shouldered by foreign firms, with a “near-complete” pass-through of 96% to US buyers that pay the levies and then must either absorb them or raise selling prices.

“Foreign exporters did not meaningfully reduce their prices in response to US tariff increases,” a report released Monday by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy said. “The $200 billion surge in customs revenue represents $200 billion extracted from American businesses and households.”

We’re bulldozing bodies in the street!!!

If you can direct me to one post of yours concerned with inflation under Joe Biden, I will be absolutely flummoxed.

No one will address the substance of this

They’ll just squeal at you, attack the source, and bring up Joe Biden

Everyone with an ounce of sense knew this would be the case.

It was predicted and it was wrong. Tariffs have had very little effect on inflation.

This article is inconclusive at best. They mentioned that the import mix was changed, but didn’t include any hay in their analysis. If Brazil exports less to us, who did we buy from? Did demand stay the same? Did the new supplier have a different tariff schedule?

Also, how much was “eaten” by importers? Is this necessarily a bad thing?

Just not much insight here. And of course this

quote:

The $200 billion surge in customs revenue represents $200 billion extracted from American businesses and households.”

Doesn’t reconcile with this

quote:

4% of the tariff burden is shouldered by foreign firms,

What’s the point of coming up with that number to conclude it’s worth $0?

*Post with an article from yahoo that was originally in Bloomberg that directly references a study done by economists*
Typical TD Politics user: "LOL got a better source?"

Even if they didn't, a big part of the tarrifs was to make American producers more competitive. Go look at the job numbers and tell me this didn't happen!

Everyone with an ounce of sense can read this article and understand it was written for people like you to confirm what you were told before tariffs were enacted. There was literally no insight in that article
