Miami AD: Lift all caps on athlete compensation

Says schools already rendering the House settlement irrelevant by doing third-party deals, it’s a fool’s errand trying to put the genie back in the bottle, Ohio State and Notre Dame ADs agree.
Money quote, literally: “Everyone is looking to get an edge on everyone else as this industry has done forever. They are going to spend X, so we are going to spend 2X.”
Thoughts?

CFB 25 was complete arse. I haven't played 26 to know if they fixed it to make passing less ridiculous.

Reframe your brain.
Its like we have a different amazing 2nd NFL.
Eventually well have a non power college system that includes the academies, Tulane, Montana St etc and that will be the new "college football". It will take a few years but we'll get there. And it will be as popular as major college football was in the 1970s

No it wasn't. What was ridiculous about the passing to you?

Spend what you want but any school buying HS recruits should be barred from participating in CFP.
The committee can "invite" who they choose to participate.

no shite which is why it never should've been let out to begin with.
But hey, everyone who only wanted these poor enslaved children to just see their name on the back of the jersey in NCAA for playstation are sure happy now I bet. That makes it all worth it..

The only way to fix it is for Congress to pass legislation that gives the NCAA an anti-trust exemption like most other major pro sports leagues have. Then the NCAA can put in rules and restrictions that won’t get slapped down in court. Then the players can unionize and negotiate a CBA

Correction: Only MLB has an antitrust exemption.

I found the game to be entirely too difficult to complete passes on second lowest difficulty without having to tweak a ton of settings. Meanwhile, on the lowest difficulty, it was impossible to run any play without it being a touch down. I don't want to have to spend hours practicing just to "get gud" enough to not throw more interceptions than incompletions on the second lowest difficulty setting. The DB's in that game were absolutely insane. I don't play PvP. I don't want CFB Dark Souls. I want a fun little sports game.

People want to blame the video game, but it was the visual representation of the farce of "amateur sports". EA Sports didn't make the game as a public service. It was a business trying to make money. The NCAA and UCLA could have allowed EA to use their trademarks in the game without compensation...but they didn't. EA had to pay both a licensing fee. So I can understand when a guy playing the game sees a character listed at 6'8, with black skin and a bald head wearing number 31 for the 1995 UCLA team and thinks "that's my image and likeness" on the game. EA Sports is making money. The NCAA is making money from their NIL, UCLA is making money from their NIL, so why am I the only one not getting paid something?
The path to NIL was a long one that anyone with a brain should have seen coming for YEARS. Yet, the NCAA and schools chose not to be proactive. It's a pretty good profit margin when you don't have to share the revenue with the "labor". They fought it until an ideologically diverse and divided USSC unanimously issued a ruling which would pave the way for NIL. That allowed the marketplace to immediately explode without any guardrails because it was too late to put the toothpaste back into the tube.
The House settlement sounded great on paper, but it was clear it was going to quickly be reduced to irrelevance because where there is a will (wealthy people wanting their school's team to be the best) there is a way.

It died on a 9-0 Supreme Court ruling.
The NCAA walked into the casino and put it all on 00 that the Supreme Court would rule in their favor, after several straight decades of operating CFB as a “business” and not “amateur athletics”. There was plenty of of chances to get ahead of this and the NCAA just stuck their head in the sand.

Why would I want a 2nd NFL? We already have an NFL season that literally runs parallel with the CFB season.
A 2nd one adds nothing

CFB is over. I've already accepted it and I'll just casually watch some here and there but the 14 hour Saturdays and screaming and yelling and spending hours following every detail is done
