CFB 25 made me want to punt kittens but I also suck at video games now so I’m sure it was more an indictment of me than anything

Granted it was technically an NFL call, Terrell Pryor serving a 5 game NFL suspension because he quit Ohio State before serving his NCAA suspension for selling memorabilia (not against NFL policy) was also a stretch, cementing that big time CFB is just an NFL minor league.

This can all be fixed by bringing back academic standards and adhering to them. If the NFL wants a AAA league, let them fund it themselves.

Its like we have a different amazing 2nd NFL.

So everything we loved about CFB that was in conflict with what we abhorred about the NFL is now buried to create an ugly homogeny?

Yep "College" football is dead...if you like whatever this now is, then you just like football, in the most generic uniformed corporate sense.

What I love about College Football: regional rivalries, distinct traditions, marching bands, players being a part of a campus community, the high stakes of individual regular season games which feel like a playoff game, hostile home crowds, variety in offense/defensive systems

What I hated about college football: rent-a-win games, terrible playoff, human "eye-tests" to decide post-season, NCAA stupidity on extremely inflexible and granular rules that made no sense, dumb calls

What I love about the NFL: parity, great post-season, no "eye tests"

What I hate about the NFL: no loyalty by players, dumb calls, corporate atmosphere, piped in music, copycat league

What I hate about CFB now: no loyalty by players, piped in music, corporate atmosphere, unlimited salary cap, destruction of regional rivalries, still tons of rent-a-wins, still uses "eye tests" for seeding post-season, dumb calls, etc.

They took all of the worst aspects of the NFL and added them to NCAA football, only with zero salary cap, no enforceable contracts, and in the process somehow completely nuked the regionalism of the game without eliminating rent-a-wins. They could not have made a worse hybrid of the two if they tried.

The only upsides, as fans, is we get a college football video game that sucks, some wacky conference games like Stanford vs NC State, UCLA vs Purdue, and Oklahoma vs South Carolina; and an expanded playoff that hasn't really felt like an improvement over the BCS most years.

Yes, the old CFB is gone and it is professional football now, at least at the highest level.

Division III football is still College Football - REAL college football.
