I just listened to some great music on YouTube that I thought was by a real artist. Turns out it was all AI...but it was better than almost anything I hear that is real. Is this AI all the devils work or should I just believe it's innocent and enjoy it? For those curious, Damien Marley was some of those good fake songs I was listening to.

I don't think I can ever get into fake music...part of the allure of real music is that ideas for the melody and lyrics came from the mind of real people...

I like it. Let us not act like Jelly Roll is a real musician. That industry lost my sympathy when they killed country music.

AI songs all sound the same. Usually, I can hear the first few bars and know it's AI. That's not to say they can't be pleasing to the ear, though.

If AI slop is better than anything you hear that is real you are not really trying very hard to find real music.

Everything you’re hearing when listening to AI music is likely cherry-picked from already existing music. It only creates music in the sense that it takes little things from here and there and makes it into something “new”. Even the voice you hear that’s singing is likely based off of an amalgamation of different artists.

I tried fake music of AI.

There is just something about lived human story, rhythm of sound and the authentic feeling it evokes.

AI just got the sound. Sounded good. Left me with cotton candy experience. Looks good. Does not taste bad. But disappears at each bite.

Do you mean you’re listening to fake songs using his voice/style of music?

Yes

No.

The catalogs of real human musicians of all genres goes back hundreds of years, you'd never get through it all in your lifetime. There is no reason to listen to AI music. I can understand why corporations might use it for commercials and TV and movies etc, but there's no excuse for a human being to listen to it on purpose.

The 1st AI song I ever heard was an imitation of a mid '60s R&B song, about a guy at a dance who... shits his pants.

If not for the lyrics, I would have been convinced

Some of its really good. There has to be artists eventually losing money due to AI. I could see AI robots doing the super bowl half-time shows In about 5-10 years.

The vast majority of music is the same few methods repeated differently.

AI picks up on that.

https://chordchord.com/30-songs-with-same-4-chords

I–V–vi–IV progression is one of the most popular chord progressions across several genres of music

Taylor Swift has over 20 songs with this progression.

Its also used by the Beatles Let it Be, Bob Marleys no woman no cry etc...

Its just math, and it makes something similar, plus then a human double checks and modifies it.

Plus since Phil Specters wall of sound, its all the same anyway.

Isn't that a real person, son of Bob Marley?

I'm anti everything ai. But I've recently got into a couple of those artist and the quality took me back to HS in the mid 80s, so I enjoy some.
I kind of feel guilty but I shouldn't because most artists these days are just mailing it in and using auto-tune anyway so what's the diff.

The melody and lyrics can still come from people.

It's just the band is electric.

Like this piece Maneater

I wrote every word, every idea was mine, every song direction mine.

My son absolutely loves it and we listen to it together all the time. He requests it.

It's real to him

Many many songs were written by one person and performed or made famous by another.

To let an AI write and "create" for you is awful, but to make it do your bidding? To give your own creation life?

It has potential

So AI is ripping off the Beatles for great chord progressions.

Got it.

Eventually? They are losing it now. Like right now.
