No, not your chicken.
I almost died a couple days ago after a piece of cauliflower got stuck. Luckily my daughter came to my rescue.

No, but that’s nightmare fuel for me.
Happened to my husband at work though- scared the shite out of him.
So far as kids choking, never, but that was my number one fear- I think I was mostly terrified I would freeze or be ineffective in the moment if it happened.

Yes, on a piece of cornbread in a restaurant in Lake Charles, LA during the 1980's.
The person who was dining with me did Heimlich and helped me clear the obstruction.
It was a very scary and helpless feeling.

I choked on a piece of candy when I was 4. My dad said he was reading the paper when I knocked the paper away. He saw what was happening, took me out to the front porch and hung me over the edge by my feet, and shook me until it came out. I just remember hanging over the edge with him holding my feet.

When I was a little kid, my mother and I were at a diner eating lunch and n old lady started choking and a bunch of people tried to help her, but she suffocated. By the time medics got there she was dead.
I still remember the diner was on Chef Hwy in NOLA, but that was before that area turned into Little Nairobi.

This product got good reviews. Mike Rowe did a segment on it once.
My daughter has that hanging in the kitchen- she’s not used it, I think I’ll get me one too.

I had a piece of tater go down the wrong pipe about a year ago. I tried hacking it up and couldn't. After that, there was some stomach acid/bile that come up my throat, and that cleared it out.

Yes. Took too much of a bite of tortilla. I self Heimlich’d mostly by a strong exhalation. It popped out. Was at a restaurant. Nobody knew anything about my distress including my buddy at the table.
As a side note, when eating meat, I cut it up in small bites. If I eat a tortilla, small bites.

I was boiling crawfish a few years ago and had the potatoes in first. Was outside by myself and took one out ti see if they were done. I ate one and it was still hard in the middle and I tried to swallow it. It got stuck and I was choking.
I hunched over a chair and basically did the Heimlich on myself and coughed the potato up. Went inside and told my wife I just almost died.

Choked yes; almost died no.
Ironically, it happened not 10 minutes after a formation where a cadet received a medal for saving another cadets life by performing the Heimlich maneuver.
A few minutes later I had a bite roast beef sandwich go down the wrong pipe. I self performed the Heimlich with a swift punch to the chest. Once my table mates realized what had happened they were "pissed" for taking away thier opportunity for a medal!

Be careful with rice. It’s sticky and I’ve had a fork full get stuck, but went down slowly. It is a scary feeling. I now eat small bites of rice. That’s all of my experience.

I have given the Heimlich to two people and saved them. The last guy was a big baw at a Mellow Mushroom on the gulf coast. I had a hard time getting my arms around that fellah but my persistence got that cheese stick unlodged.
Best info I can give anyone is to remain calm and keep trying.
Bartender gave me a free drink.

At grandparents house for Thanksgiving…I was probably eight. Eating Cornish hen at the kids table in another room from the parents. Swallowed a piece with a bone and it got lodged in throat.
Older sister just looked at me puzzled as I was choking. Luckily had enough sense to head to dining room with parents. My grandmother’s first solution was to say “give him some bread.” I think that was her answer for most things.
My Dad thankfully didn’t listen and did the heimlich. Bone popped out and my ribs were sore for a week.
