Houston should be my second favorite team, and the Oilers were. However, I can’t seem to support the Texans and I can’t say why. They obviously have tremendous talent and that shows tonight.

I don’t hate Houston, I just forget about them, and then I just don’t have any fondness for them. If they were the Oilers, I know I’d be all in on them. (And no I hate Tennessee).

No need to respond or downvote I wish them luck but I just can’t get excited about them.

I’m glad you were able to get this off of your chest.

It's a damn shame they can't be the Oilers.

No team should be your 2nd favorite team

They’re perennial losers, so no great loss. Oilers were more fun to watch and pull for.

Well when your favorite team is the Saints… you have to have someone to pull for in the playoffs.

I think a lot of people have a similar view. It’s a hard franchise to connect with. I was briefly an Oilers fan in my youth because my father was a fan, but they moved about the same time I was becoming invested in them.

Nothing about the Texans has ever interested me. In fact it’s the opposite. There’s nothing worse than a Texans prime time or playoff game.

However, their defense caught my attention a couple of years ago. I can’t explain exactly why, but this season I’ve really enjoyed watching them whenever I’ve caught a game.

More than once I’ve stuck around for at least a couple of series of Texans football even if there is another game occurring that I’m far more interested in. I actually enjoy their games now, and I hope they make a run, but CJ can be painful to watch if he’s struggling

Yeah - need something different.

The 2026 Texans identity is to have your defense out score the opponent on the road on Monday night in the playoffs.

I’ll take that over the run n shoot right about now

Generic colors, generic name, bland uniforms, generic team for most of its existence. I haven't been able to embrace them. But I usually root for them to do well.

I grew up in New Orleans area. I've been in the Houston area for almost 20 years. I pull for the Houston teams, but really don't care. Tonight was fun, but if they had gotten blown out I would have been fine.

This is the answer. Piss poor marketing. They’re like the Globetrotter’s opponent the Washington Generals.

Same. I love the Astros. Like the Rockets.

I’m indifferent with the Texans. Honestly if they were still the Oilers, I’d probably love them like the Saints. But it’s the name. TEXANS. I’m not a Texan. I can’t relate to them.

They had sweet uniforms and logo when they were the Oilers. I was young when they moved to Nashville but still remember when Warren Moon was their QB.
