My wife and I are wanting to go to Europe. We are looking at around 10 days, but interested to find out what would be the perfect destinations?

You gotta give a little more info than that. Travel much? What do y’all like to do? Pricey/budget? Preferred airports? I mean, 10 days in Europe could be pretty much anything from Istanbul to Reykjavík and points in between. If you literally have no clue, put some thoughts in chat to use as a starting point.

Unless you're trying to use American miles (or build more), you will almost certainly save $$$ on flights from DFW-IAH-Europe on United or other Star Alliance (Lufthansa, Turkish, etc.) You're captive at a OneWorld hub, and they know it, and they price accordingly.

We also need to know what month you're planning on doing this to take weather into consideration.

I’d go Italy or Spain here.

10 days:

Italy: Rome, Florence, Venice with maybe a 2 day stop in a place like Cinque Terre if you really want

Spain: Barcelona, Seville, Madrid

Both have amazing museums, shopping, sites to see, and incredible food.

France is also a very easy first trip but it’s easy to just spend it enjoying Paris and taking day trips to Normandy, Champagne/Reims etc

I used AA miles for both Italy and Spain.

Fly direct to London. Get an apt there. Do 3 day trips out of London. There is so much to see in London proper you won’t be bored. Examples of day trips Salisbury/Stonehenge, Cottswolds/Oxford, Windsor Castle and town, Bath and Canterbury, Cliffs of Dover area. Most of these you can take a train to and from easily in a day.

I second Italy! Days 1 - 4 in Rome, 4 - 7 in Florence, 7-9 Cinque Terre, 9-10 back to Rome.

So much to do in Rome: Coliseum, Forum, Pantheon, Castle Sant Angelo, St. Peter’s, Vatican tours, Trastevere, day tour down to Pompeii …. Great food!

Florence: Great museums, Michelangelo’s David, The Duomo, Medici Chapel, Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio,….Great food!

Cinque Terre: A vacation from your vacation…no museums, no must see churches, hike/walk/train between and just wander the small villages at your own pace and enjoy the views of the Mediterranean…Oh, and great food!f

I'm gonna jack your trip up.

You don't mind flying between two cities between lunch and dinner do you?

In all seriousness, for 10 days you could probably do 2-3 countries depending on how much traveling you are willing to do. I've also spent 10 days just in Switzerland and 10 days in Italy.

Personally I'd recommend Italy. Fly into Milan and hit Venice, Florence (Tuscany), and Rome before flying out of Rome.

Two choices.

You could fly in to London, spend a few days there, and take the Eurostar to Paris. You can take day trips from both cities. I would spend a day or two more in Paris than in London.

Or

Fly in to Rome. Stay there for three days. Take the train to Florence. After three days there, take the train to Venice for three days. Fly home from Venice. That is nine. I don’t know how you count travel days. If you have another day, spend it in Rome.

Ask ChatGPT?

But my vote is just go to Slovenia and immerse. You'd thank me later.

I have a fantasy trip in my head of flying to Seville and renting a car to drive along the med coast all the way to Monaco

that probably doesn’t help you but if/when we go to Europe that’s what I want to do
