LA with velvet season coming

I just heard that Louisiana will introduce a velvet season for the upcoming season. I don't know the details of the dates, but expected to be released soon.

Enjoy yalls new arbitrary fee on top of the regular license to pay for CWD testing and the privilege of sitting in balls hot weather to let bucks know it’s time to go nocturnal.

Hopefully it’s in late August and not early September. I work with several people from Arkansas and the’ve had a velvet hunt the last 2 years around Labor Day weekend. We’ve all commented how most of the bucks in North LA and South AR shed velvet the week before.
If you’re going to brave the heat then at least make the season where most bucks are actually still in velvet.

I made the 1st velvet season hunt in ms, killed a decent 8pt but probably won’t do it again.
It took ZERO skill (and I suck at bow hunting) to shoot that deer. Deer are on a pretty unbreakable pattern that time of year so if you have deer showing up to a salt lick or feeder you will kill one.
If they allowed it on public land I’d do it again but too easy on private. Plus all the bull crap with the mandatory cwd sample for that hunt, nope.

Will probably be like Mississippi velvet weekend. 2nd week of September (3 days) special permit, private land only, mandatory CWD testing.

I would rather chop off my nuts then deer hunt in August or September

I can say with total honesty I HATE our early start and velvet hunt
