Did we have inside help in snatching Maduro?

I have never served, so I have ZERO first hand knowledge. It SEEMED very unlikely to me that Maduro could have been snatched from a fortified house on a military base without American loss of life without some inside co-operation from Venezuelans...maybe even a stand down order. The fact that, according to President Trump, we had been in discussions with Maduro's Vice-president made the inside co-operation theory even more compelling. It's even possible that Maduro allowed himself to be captured without a fight in exchange for his life and his wife's.

A Marine buddy of mine who recently retired from flying Apaches says that such a flawless raid WAS plausible.

What do you think? Did we have inside help or was this just the excellent work of the world's greatest military?

Wouldn't surprise me that we had help, the military 4 star wasn't whacked in the limited bombing.

Most likely the VP that was just sworn in. Doubt it's a coincidence she was in Russia when it went down.

Yes, we definitely had inside help from people close to Maduro who betrayed him. This has been reported by multiple news organizations citing sources from the U.S. government.

It also was a flawless op by our military.

Jbird, I always appreciate your experience-based perspective. Where did you get specific casualty info?

She needs to go back to Russia.

I didn't but I would assume his speech would assure the 4star is alive.

Just a hunch- but I believe the pardon of the former Honduran president possibly had something to do with intelligence

I think the answer is clearly yes.

They barely put up a fight and the VP, who faces the same charges as Maduro, has clearly been granted some kind of reprieve.

ETA: the charges were for her office’s predecessor. It is unclear whether she was charged.

It has been reported right from the start that we had a CIA presence on the ground, embedded in the regime We knew his daily routines, his coming and goings, and were able to build an exact replica of his bedroom, complete with the safe space with the steel door.

That's some pretty deep and likely very high up inside help.

This is another big difference between S America and the Middle East.

It is MUCH easier for us to pull this off there. It helps, of course, that we’ve been doing it there for the better part of 100+ years.

I don’t think there was a whole lot of heart to fight within the Venezuelan military. Maduro isn’t well liked, especially not liked enough for them to fight the U.S. military

This isn’t the Middle East where everyone hates us
