We are where we are with the Constitution in place.

Make the Amendment process harder?
Term limits?
Allow secession?
Citizenship requirements?

Redefining the commerce clause to its originally-intended meaning (reversing Wickard and its progeny) would solve most everything on the federal level, from overbearing criminal authority to the bureaucratic state.

The only way to solve the problem of government is to remove power from the government and promote freedom and personal choices/responsibility.

In a democracy, that's not really going to work.

Term limits
Allow succession

Repeal direct election of senators

No dual citizen public service/office

Feds collect taxes from states, not citizens

Or… go back to the AoC and start from there.

Those "rotten motherfrickers in government" aren't voted in?

Were you referencing only bureaucrats and appointed persons?

Term Limits
Clearer definition of what defines citizenship that completely eliminates birthright citizenship
Voting age back to 21 except for those in military service (I would flirt with property ownership to get voting rights but that would never happen)
Revert the Senate back to the original way they are elected

Senators prior to the 17th Amendment were appointed by state legislatures and served at the states discretion. Restore that only modified with a mechanism to break deadlocks.

Impossible.

It's the very nature of government. The system is broken.

I disagree partly with this - narrowing the Commerce Clause risks stripping the federal government of its ability to address collective-action problems (civil rights enforcement, environmental protection, labor standards, and public health). States have historically failed to handle address these and I simply don’t trust them.

Additionally, simply removing government power assumes a level playing field that doesn’t exist, where “personal responsibility” can’t compensate for structural disadvantages like poverty, discrimination, or market concentration.

I am a Republican in principle, but as a trained lawyer I cannot agree government should be abolished. The problem isn’t government per se, but how to democratically constrain and deploy it to safeguard dignity, opportunity, and equal rights.

Well, it kinda has turned into one… we’re one terrible compact away from a full on “democracy”.

My son’s government class this semester is “educating” the kids on accepting the idea of popular vote and repealing citizenship requirement for president.

Civil Rights enforcement is authorized via the 14th Amendment. There isn't a need to look to the Commerce Clause for authority-jurisdiction.

I'd go full secessionist if this ever came to pass.

Naw the US has always relied on democracy in its government, even with the Articles of Confederation.

People just think they're being smart trying to create a binary situation and they come off looking like idiots every time.

But, my point in response to his comment remains. Politicians are elected by citizens. How do you propose regulating them out of government? To put this another way, how do you avoid giving DEMs the power to make Trump ineligible?

Limit immigration to the U.S. to only people born west of the Ural Mountains and north of the Mediterranean Sea.

How about just enforcing it? There are thousands and thousands of examples of Democrats going against the constitution and people act like it's not a big deal. The constitution needs to be sacred and protected at all times
