The 12 team playoff is a solid setup and there’s no need for expansion

While the regular season has been somewhat diminished in terms of the absolute biggest games, you still basically have to get to double digit wins so the regular season still is high stakes. You lose that going to 16 or more teams.

I don’t think the bye is an issue that needs expansion to solve. The issue is the month between games.

I’d like to give this setup with a fixed calendar a few more years before expanding.

December 13 round 1, December 20 quarterfinals, New Year semis, first week of January national title

The gap is a huge problem that needs fixed. I’d argue telling the bowls to frick off and doing all home games until the final too. But they probably won’t do that

The opening round and quarters both need to be on campus too.

If you’re gonna have 4 rounds make it 16 teams, get rid of the bye and play all home games until the championship. Your reward for being the 1 or 2 seed is all home games. Would be so much better than all these natural site games and actually interesting.

Too much money for that to happen. But I agree with you. I’d be cool to have more playoff games at home school sites.

100%. Georgia should have hosted Mississippi. A&M should have hosted Miami. Not saying these outcomes change the results, but the benefit is miniscule. Georgia won the conference, beat Mississippi in the regular season, and their reward is playing them in a border state (neutral site).

They have been aggressively "fixing" college football for 20 years and they aren't gonna stop.

College football is basically

Three lose bama teams should never ever be in the discussion to be anywhere near the playoffs again

Yeah, I’d prefer this too, but like getting rid of conference championship games, I just don’t see it happening from a business perspective.

Expand the playoffs more and you get a 9-3 Bama team making it last year with losses to two 6-6 teams.

Anyone upset about Bama making it this year should be arguing hard against any expansion.

Expanding it to 32 and having 31 bowl games be rounds 1-5 is another option. Let the higher rated team pick the bowl game for the first round (will typically always be whatever is closest geographically to their campus)

No byes would be better, everyone play to start tourney, no bye in March Madness

Definitely no need for expansion. The change that’s needed is to start the playoff sooner. Three of the four bye teams lost, they have too long between games. It’s a disadvantage having that long off.

Bye teams deserve to have home games too, that's the only major change I'm really in favor of
