Dummy....what evidence is there that the D can't hold opponents under 38?
The D was good this year. It struggled with running QBs but in general it was good. Also when you have a pathetic offense not stringing together 1st downs, the D is cooked.

Actually no. Even with the worst defense we have ever fielded the ppg was not 38. Blake has earned the benefit of the doubt that the defenses will be competitive and compliment our offense that Lane brings in. We might not set the world on fire on defense but I don't expect a 2020/2023 defense.

LSU could do much worse at DC than Baker

Some of y’all really need to understand/study football a lot more before yall post

I wanted Baker back so badly too. Now I lump in the same category as a Matt House and John Chavis.
Y’all want to know how to measure a good DC? They should be able to randomly pick 11 people from this message board, coach us up for two weeks, and then watch how we hold a team to under 20 pts. It’s scheme, plain and simple.

Correct, defenses improve when they aren't on the field as much.

So Baker sucks ,not the fact that 6 of the best players didn’t play in the bowl game. The bowl game was the first time those starters played a game together against a team with no starters out but our coach sucked.Very typical of LSU fans, don’t know shite from shinola.

This is based on what exactly? One meaningless bowl game with opt outs and no coaches in place. Ok
Posted on 12/30/25 at 1:05 pm to Ellis_Hugh
That would be an all time bad defense bro. We are golden if we are scoring 35+ per game

Strange, because this defense held opponents under 35 (not just 38) in 11 out of 13 games this year.
In the two that it didn't, one was a bowl game with zero stakes where half the team quit, and the other was admittedly a complete arse whooping where the entire team quit on the coach that's no longer here.
Funny enough, I'm looking at how the defense did last year, under the exact same coordinator, and I'm seeing they held opponents under 35 in 11 out of 13 games there, too.
Oddest of all, the defense under that coordinator gave up an average of 21.8 points per game in those two years.
Where is this claim coming from? Doesn't seem supported by the data.

You think chavis and house are in the same category? Chavis was the DC for some of the best defenses we have ever had. And regularly in top echelon of the country.
