In honor of National Bacon Day on Tuesday, a national fast-food chain is offering bacon cheeseburgers for just a penny.

Wendy’s announced that customers can order their 1-cent Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers on Dec. 30 through the app, USA TODAY wrote.

As a requirement, customers must purchase another item at full price. The deal is available at participating restaurants.

“At Wendy’s, bacon isn’t just a topping, it’s a lifestyle,” the company said in a statement to USA TODAY. “From the iconic Baconator to the Breakfast Baconator to our bacon-loaded Breakfast Burrito, we literally own bacon.”

The Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is made with a beef patty topped with two strips of bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a toasted bun.

They’re not much bigger than a slider these days. Stopped going to Wendy’s when they shrunk everything, including the salads

But they made up for shrinking the food by growing the prices.

Wendy's actually sells their bacon in grocery stores:

They also sell their chilli in a can.

Am I just being overly nostalgic for my childhood or was Wendy’s actually good in ‘90s?

Probably a healthy dose of nostalgia but I remember them being good in the 80s - 90s too.

The beef tasted better and fresher than other places and it was square shaped and extended beyond the edges of the bun to go along with their marketing campaign. They also had a salad and hot food bar. And those tables with vintage newspapers laminated on.

I think at some point they realized that customers didn't care about more beef or fresh, not frozen, etc - they just wanted McDonalds or whatever was quickest or closest. So Wendy's just reverted to crap because not being crap didn't make a difference.

You just use your credit card and get a $3.50 add-on for paying with a card for a one-cent burger.

I got a JBC last week when I tried their new Tenders, and it was more bread than meat and it was legit $3.50. Tenders were ok. I still like the Baconator (add L, T & P) and the chili.
it’s the closest fast food to the house, so that’s what the kids grew up on. Also a good place for a $4 baked potato.
