74 catches for 828 Yards and 4 TDs.

His connection with Shough is something special.

He's the guy that I'm confused why everyone wants to upgrade through the draft... His salary isn't bad for a Top 5 tight end, but it becomes problematic if you're paying him that much to be second-fiddle -- or at least half fiddle -- to some rookie

I’m good with him now. I’m glad he has shown what he can do, it was a rough start to the year, but you could say that about the entire offense

He has improved as the year has gone on, but he isn't elite. He is just getting targeted a lot b/c our WR options are not great.

If it wasn't for other pressing needs, we should upgrade, but nothing wrong looking at a TE in mid rounds that could compliment him and replace in a 2 years b/c hill and Moreau are done.

He is not the best run blocker and drops big passes

Probably because he had a bad habit of fumbling at critical times. His ball security seemed much better yesterday.

Can say this about many of the top producing tight ends but we do have a top 10ish WR as well

Shough throws a more catchable ball than Rattler did, because as soon as the change was made JJ was a whole different receiver.

With Rattler throwing to him I swear to God it felt like Johnson caught every ball while running backward.. Like he was walling off the defender to protect the ball and then would just get blasted in the lower back by a safety. It was so weird...

Can't argue with the run blocker argument, however..

Maybe not but he's getting the job done right now on a good TE contract for us.

Jared Cook 2.0

He's a quality te whether people like it or not.

The issue is critical game time situations is questionable.

I haven't noticed this issue since Rattler stopped playing though

It’s not that I want to replace him in the draft. He has a valuable role as a pass catcher. But he doesn’t block. I want a second option that is an actual Tight end who can block and run some routes. Both of them would take the offense to a new level

Would be amazing if he got 173+ yards this week.

Him and Olave both go over 1,000 yards receiving.

He hasn’t made a critical mistake since Shough took over.

For a guy that made one horrible mistake after another the first half of this season, he has absolutely turned it around the last few games and has been on fire. I'm all in on JJ!
