Penalties

We played poorly, but I will forever believe that the penalties called by this Big 12 officiating crew was a big factor in the loss... Tigers 9 for 95 yards and Houston 4 for 29 yards! Very one-sided and very telling.

The penalties cost us at least 1 or 2 scores. But they were all legit. The face masks…ripped the Houston qb’s helmet off. Horsecollar. Refs called a fair game. We just played sloppy, careless.

No. They were not all legit penalties. PI should not be called on a non-catchable ball.

So name all the penalties that you think were bad calls. The two facemasks? Do you think those were bad calls?

they were all legit

The pi called on brown when wr stopped running the route cause ball was over thrown led to a td vs a fg, which is the game difference. Then no call on barion deep ball after the PI they did call. The guy ripped his left shoulder pad back cause he was beat again... no call. And the sharp illegal man down field was bs and negated pts for lsu. Refs 100% changed the game to UH favor.
All the other penalties seemed like good calls

They called a PI on Houston later on a ball that was even further away from the WR than that one

Big10
They bring in crews from different conference than the two teams playing.

Those were Good calls..but the BAD calls..1) illegal man down field on a pass play for a first down, BAD call! All the lineman were behind the line of scrimmage. 2) PI on an uncatchable ball, BAD Call. Smh

It’s not just what was called on LSU. It’s what wasn’t called on Houston.
Multiple PI’s should have been called on them that were ignored.
They were lined up in the neutral zone several times and we got called for it to extend a drive for them, but they were never called for it.
Houston horse collar tackled one of our wide receivers, no call.
The big tell was the “ineligible receiver down field” phantom call. That call changed the tenor of the game from LSU getting back on an offensive track to behind the sticks and putting Houston back in the drivers seat.
It’s not that LSU didn’t commit penalties, it’s that Houston basically had 0 penalties that effected the game and every time LSU was every time LSU was about to gain momentum, laundry was on the field.

How about when Sharp lined up in the backfield, caught a nice pass for a first and the blind zebras called ineligible downfield. Was the wrong call, even rules expert said so.

Yes that was a bad call. It’s tough to find a football game in which there are zero bad calls

Look closely a covered eligible number went down field. If not it’s an illegal formation so either way it comes back

The weird thing about that was that they huddled about it. The only thing that makes sense is that a "receiver" who was actually ineligible went too far downfield.
There was simply no way that Sharp was ineligible. He obviously was not on the line of scrimmage.

Look closely a covered eligible number went down field. If not it’s an illegal formation so either way it comes back. The discussion on those types of calls is, was player x covered or off the line(usually making it an illegal formation). In many cases official will call out on O2O that number X is covered or off

Thanks. I figured that had to be the situation. I just don't see how Sharp was either covering someone or covered by someone...so it doesn't make any sense to call out his number.

It was neither an illegal formation nor ineligible WR downfield. #10 (Sharp) clearly steps off the line and #14 (Green) steps up. Green did not leave the backfield.
It was simply a bad call by a bad batch of refs.

A announcers said they where Big 10 officials

It's not an ineligible wr downfield. It's an ineligible player down field. I haven't seen the play but I've seen it hundreds of times. Did he signal to covering wing official that he had moved to off(not that it's required at this level, but it helps).

Add to that the receiver ran straight over a backpeddling defender. He has rights to his own space.
Failed to mention the faux inelligible receiver that killed a potential scoring drive. Ref even admitted they blew that one.
