We will have a brand new OL next year besides maybe Braelin Moore.

I don't understand the wholesale change of our starting OL.

I would've kept this guy and Moore if he wanted another season. Guess they going with a new OL makes sense. Guessing Davis is gone too and probably Moore as well.

What's not to understand? They were LSU's worst OL in decades. You don't get to be that just by the coaching it was the players too. Not that I think Adams was that bad. It's not like they're losing their money. It just gets pooled into the portal so a bigger pot to work with. Let's wait until we see the moves in the portal before we judge? Kiffin is resetting it and it should be reset.

Resetting and losing quality players are two different things. Adams is clearly an SEC caliber player. I hope we are able to get him back.

I don't think you can successfully replace the entire OL.

Unless there's something I'm unaware of that make it impossible, you need to decide to pay Tyree. I'd probably pay Echols too.

I wonder if some of these guys feel some sort of loyalty to Brad Davis

Might have to do with the inability across the board to handle Conference USA defenses like WKU and LA Tech, much less the SEC.

How do you know they don't already have better players lined up and he didn't like that so he left? Maybe he's asking for an absurd amount he's not worth? How do you even know if he's the type of lineman Lane wants in his offense? His scheme is heavy on run and our blocking has been atrocious here for years. Who knows maybe it's just leverage to get more out of the pot from LSU. Curne said he's open to coming back. Big mouth media tells everyone LSU has 40 million to spend you don't think players will have thier hand out? The point is, you don't really know what the situation is here. Relax and wait to see what they do.

As for "you can't replace an entire OL and expect good performance" what do you think is going to happen if they kept the same guys? They're learning a new offensive system and may be told to rely on an entirely different run block scheme. You don't think this impacts them and their chemistry? It's going to be rough regardless in a new scheme.

It's going to be really hard to replace an entire OL with SEC caliber players through the portal.

You gotta think that some of these guys are good enough to pan out. I was hoping next year's group would be:

LT: best portal OL available
LG: Echols/ Thomas/ Miller
C: Moore
RG: Curne/ Thomas/ Miller
RT: Adams/ Williams battle

Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re going clean slate to ensure they can instill a different culture/work ethic at OL. They underperformed so much that a full reset may be the best option for a turnaround of that position.

Was thinking the same. Figured we’d try to grab a starting LT in the portal and slide him to RT. This 2 week portal period will be must see TV.

I have a hard time seeing this. If it’s mutual, it’s probably more likely that they told some of these players what they were going to offer in NIL and that there would be a competition for their role. I don’t see them telling guys like Adams and Curne to just kick rocks. At worse, I think those guys could be a solid starting RT/RG combo.

I’m curious to know what made Brad Davis so desirable to play for. He really did land a ton of highly rated recruits and retained most of the valuable guys, but he doesn’t seem like he’s a big personality or a really likeable guy. I know a lowly ranked recruit who transferred out because he couldn’t stand him, but he’s clearly in the minority.

The OL was such a dysfunctional disaster this season. It goes beyond a new staff wanting to make wholesale changes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Tyree Adams had such a bad experience with bad coaching, odd personnel decisions, and injuries that he wants a fresh start somewhere.

Hopefully if the new staff wants him, then they will be able to retain him.
